Default Texas governer regects stimulus money for unemployment.

Perry refuses to use stimulus money to increase unemployment. It might sound calus of me, but I finally agree with Perry on something. Funny how congress puts in the stipulation that if you use the money, you will have to keep matching that money in the future. Sounds very much like and embedded socialist ploy.

Here's my prediction... All those liberals who were saying, "If you disagree so much with the stimulus, why don't you just refuse the money?" will now turn it around and say, "Can you believe so-and-so refused the money? Now the stimulus plan won't work, and it will be Governor so-and-so's fault (not Obama's)."

The percentage of people who land a newa job dramatically increasesthe final week of unemployment benifits.

Yep,
And some people can't afford to live on what unemployment is going to pay. That is the way it should be. I don't believe making unemployment benefits more lucrative is the answer. Especially at the expense of the people providing the jobs.

This really is a no brainer for Perry.

I didn't follow your links. I understood from reports on the radio that part of the issue was that accepting the unemployment stimulus money would oblige Texas to raise the unemployment tax on employers. Additionally, taking the unemployment stimulus money would oblige Texas to sign on for paying unemployment for part-time work. That sounds pretty bogus to me. Bravo Perry. Amazing how much sleezy crap is embedded in these Democrat "do-gooder" bills.

My thought is . . . if this is a stimulus bill, its purpose is to stimulate the economy. If the extreme gravity of our economic situation justifies such a huge deficit expenditure . . . then the key aspect is to get the money out there. This being the case, why is it necessary to tie this money up as the Democratic congress had done? Why must taking the unemployment stimulus money -- which is in the stimulus package to stimulate the economy, right -- be tied to signing on to any other conditions? It is as if the stimulus package is being used as a big bribe, the Democrats are using OUR money to bribe US to sign on for their reformation of government?!!!

How long do you suppose our noble Democratic leaders machinated on such similar provisions of the stimulus package? I'm guessing it wasn't the work of a single night or a single week. They had been brain storming on this for a long time.

Because the Dems know that once the dust settles and everybody figures out how much BS Obama and the dems pushed through with this stimulus, the Dems will likely lose the house (or at minimum a veto-proof majority) which will throw a huge monkey wrench in anmy future spending plans. They have a window of opportunity now that is closing quickly.
