Default Afghanistan Taliban leader was at Gitmo

The Taliban's new top operations officer in southern Afghanistan had been a prisoner at the Guantanamo Bay detention center, the latest example of a freed detainee who took a militant leadership role and a potential complication for the Obama administration's efforts to close the prison. U.S. authorities handed over the detainee to the Afghan government, which in turn released him, according to Pentagon and CIA officials.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090310/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/guantanamo_detainee_taliban

Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul, formerly Guantanamo prisoner No. 008, was among 13 Afghan prisoners released to the Afghan government in December 2007. Rasoul is now known as Mullah Abdullah Zakir, a nom de guerre that Pentagon and intelligence officials say is used by a Taliban leader who is in charge of operations against U.S. and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan.

.....LMAO[8D][:'(]...way to go Obama![:@]

Default RE: Afghanistan Taliban leader was at Gitmo

Why does this not come as a surprise? Bush released hundreds of Gitmo "detainees." Most were released at the request of their governments. About 100 were released to Saudi Arabia, where they were turned loose. As of 8 October,08 at 12:00 hrs. a total of 522 Gitmo "detainees" had been released by the Bush administration.

An FOI request was filed for the list of released "detainees." A federal judge ordered the Bush administration to release the names of the released "detainees":

http://www.truthout.org/article/judge-orders-release-gitmo-detainees-names

Here isthe DOD list of released Gitmo "detainees":

http://www.dod.mil/pubs/foi/detainees/09-F-0031_doc1.pdf

i am totallyshocked that Rush, Hannity and Ann did not tell us about this release of Gitmo "detainees" on the watch of the Bush administration. [:'(][:@]Must have skipped their minds. Michelle Malkin did pick up on it. Yep, both Bush and Obama are idiots.

Your full of crap falcon. Most detainees were release due to pressure from the left. The closing of gitmo comes because of pressure from the left. You also have wanted the closing of gitmo. Are you on the left or is this a fine example of an independent following the chow line? I've asked you many times what are you going to charge them with? I heard crickets. I've asked you many of times to explain why a 10'x10' cell in USA is any better than one located in a tropical paradise. I heard crickets. You need to man up and answer these questions or be seen as the one who follows the chow line.

Not sure but 61 are believed to have rejoined the fight. Over 30 were subsequently re-captured or killed while fighting US or coalition troops.

Under pressure from the courts, the Republican Congress passed laws in 2005 and 2006 giving terror suspects minimal opportunities to challenge their detention in federal court. Detainees were not allowed to have defense lawyers in initial military hearings to determine their status as enemy combatants, or to see or rebut evidence deemed secret by the government.

The potential for unfairness was so great that last week the Supreme Court stepped in and struck down the federal laws, ruling that terror detainees must be given full access to federal courts, under the ancient principle of habeas corpus, which roughly means that government cannot hold you without proving to the courts a legal basis for the detention.

So the courts are to blame, and now Obama, as POTUS, is to blame for these released nut jobs causing more trouble...well if there is an upside, maybe they can be followed to the rats nest they came from and targeted?
