This is something that I hope they get into law. Power to the people, the working people. Hidden ballots a must.
Am I the only one missing something? Employee free choice does away with hidden ballots. Hey RM better call your momma, I think you just screwed up your post.[:-]

Better check again. That act eliminates secret ballots.
Not really and some will spread all the propaganda they want to try and block this movement. It's bad for the big CEO's that broke this country down the way they have though. By giving workers the right to choose and not some joker trying to make the decisions for them. I am all in favor of the Eemployeee Free choice Act and truely hope the heck it passes. I have faith that this will as it is for all workers to benefit from. Here is a letter I recently had out in the local paper here for you to read. do not believe for one minute that it is as bad as some want you to believe.....
Employee Free Choice Act..

The Employee Free Choice Act, also known as the "card check" bill, has passed the US House with 233 cosponsors, and is now stalled in the U.S. Senate. In upcoming months this bill, which can make the process of forming a union fairer, will be re-introduced in the Senate. If passed, it can lead to a bigger, stronger labor movement working on behalf of all working people.
Why would you care if this gets passed? Even if you do not belong to a union and your work place is not organized, chances are you have been hurt by the decline in the labor movement over the last 50 years. Small business owners, managers, professionals, fishermen, and farmers have all been affected. For example, unions are the biggest backers of universal healthcare. Had they been stronger, wemight havehealthcare for all by now. Unions also push for regulations of big business, and for creating fair taxes so billionaires don't paya lower ratethan their secretaries. Hadunions' voices beenlouder, we might not be inan economic crisis like this one.
People losing their pensions and homes should care deeply about the Employee Free Choice Act. TheActwould allow the tens of millions of workers who want a union now but cannot organizeunder the current labor laws to get one. When workers are able to organize for better working conditions, benefits, and safe pensions, the overall health of the economy improves. During the mid 1950s, 35%of American workerswereunionized! Today, unionsrepresent just 12% of American workers, and our economy has been getting worse everyday! The medically uninsured have swelled and guaranteed pensions have become almost nonexistent. Our economy has become a winner take all and the law of the jungle prevails! If you're not lucky you're out of luck!
Now is the time to be paying attention to the Employee Free Choice Actand making sure your elected representatives in Congress will support it.

Here is what everyone is posting about:
"Organized labor"™s top priority this Congress is expected to be the "Employee Free Choice Act." The measure -- not yet reintroduced in the current Congress -- would dramatically change U.S. labor law. Today, employees are entitled to a private-ballot election when deciding whether they want union representation in their workplace. Elections are overseen by the National Labor Relations Board, which has numerous procedures in place to ensure fair, fraud-free elections. Because of NLRB safeguards, employees can cast their vote confidentially, without peer pressure or coercion from unions or employers.
If Congress passes the Employee Free Choice Act, employees effectively lose their right to private-ballot elections. The bill would establish a so-called "card-check" union organizing system, in which a majority of employees simply sign a card in favor of union representation.
Recent polls show strong majorities of the public want to keep the current protections in place. Numerous editorial pages across the country also have expressed support for keeping the private ballot. "
So explain to me how voting by placing your name on a card, under others names, is a secret ballot?
I belong to no union, and would not if given the chance. But what worries me about this act is the fact that it is public knowledge of the discontent voters, which could lead to unfair recourse.
