Well, just to help the flames rise higher, Taiwan is a historic part of China. Hard to begrudge them Taiwan, that is except that it is contrary to the business interests of wealthy multi-national US corporations. Who cares who we buy our semiconductors from -- does it matter if it is stamped "Made in Taiwan" or "Made in China," so long as it is made in a Level 5 clean room?
