Hello everyone. I just joined this site after watching as a guest for a while. I'm trying to figue out how to participate, so I hope this works out. Anyway, I live very near an Army base where troops have been regularly deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Several of my neighbors are soldiers who live off base.They them tell me that our continued presence in Iraq is not about Iraq at all. They tell me that it is understood by most in the military that Iraq is merely a forward "base of operations" for the invasion of Iran. There may be some truth to that. As Iran gets closer to having nuclear capabilities, someone will probably have to do something. It would have to be the U.S. or Israel. The french probably wouldn't do it!
