i sympathize with mexico's plight. they are literally on the brink of a civil war, led by the drug cartels. a better solution than the awb, i think, would be simply to secure the border.

Yep, but neither party wants to do that. It is a rarebi-partisan thing: The Democrats want to register the illegals to vote and thedonors to the Republican party want cheap labor.
