Fresh off a grueling budget battle in his state, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Saturday that if fellow Republican governors threatening to turn down stimulus funds follow through on their pledge, he'd be happy to have their share.
"Everyone has their own way of thinking," Schwarzenegger said of those governors in an interview with POLITICO at the National Governors Association's annual meeting. "I just hope they give me their funding."
Schwarzenegger supports President Barack Obama's $778 billion stimulus, but four Republican governors have said they may reject some of the stimulus funds.
He's a RINO. I hope everyone on the board apprieciates taxation with out representation. That's whats happening when the Federal Government bails out any state. Ever since he called the legslators girlie men, he's been the one who fits that title. The most disgusting thin about the idiots in California are the anti drillers. They are sitting on billions of barrels of oil. So much so a lot seeps right out of the ground everyday. I saw a report stating they could make up their 50 billion budget shortfall in just selling drilling lease in state waters. Some green biotch said they didn't want to do that b ecause it would kill the renewable spending. How stupid can it get. They refused to even debate it as a way of closing the budget gap. Instead, they choose even higher taxes. Is there any reason why corporations are leaving California? The latest big name brand was Hilton Hotels. They are moving to Va that has lower tax rates all around.

I will say this about the republicans. They almost all voted against the bill. Thats good. I am damn glad they did it BUT, They cannot turn around and take this money without being total, and I mean total hypocrites. If you are going to stand for something then you can't have it both ways.
That said, On the other hand, are they huting the people of their states if they do not take it. If you have money comong your way, will you take it? If ever there was a damned either way situation, this is it. I am one of the at least 57 percent of the people that did not want this and I think in the long run (not to long ) that this will hurt the country FAR FAR more than what little it may temporarely help. I really don't understand how going much much further into debt can fix the fact that we are way to far in debt aleady. How can this do any more that maybe postpone the end result and make that result even worse?
I see all kinds of strings attached to this money and I see it as a way to further control the states, thus the people. Where am I wrong?
He is a liberal Republican. Liberal Republicans are in vogue, ask the RNC's Steele. Just wait until the Republican hip-hoppersget elected to congress .

But now your talking about the states. Turns out, inside the bill, the govenors may get overruled by their legislatures. There is a provision in the bill saying that even if governors say no, their legislatures can say yes.

It can't and won't work. What Rainmaker has refused to answer, (because he doesn't know, surprise surprise) where is this money coming from? ***an, our #1 lender doesn't have it, China doesn't have it so who has it? Who wants to take the risk? In order to convince people to lend the government money, they are going to have to raise interest rates to reward the risk takers. Where does that leave the private sector and their need for a loan? It costs more and therefore less jobs and slower recovery. On the other hand, let's say the print it. That will devaule our dollar and therefore leave companies with less money and slower growth.

Your dead on. There are a lot of strings attached to this money. That's why Republicans don't want to take the money.

Don't know where you got the 57% figure James. Latest Rassmusen poll on the stimulus says 43% approve, 37% disapprove and 20% not sure. Or are you just adding the not sure column to the disapprove column because they obviously oppose it and don't know it?
If Swarzenegger had turned down the money, the California legislature would have overruled him and taken it anyway because they desperately need it. Their economy is so screwed up they've got a lot more important things they need to be doing than getting in a fight over this money, so he just saved his state time and money by accepting outright. I think those other Republican governors are just grandstanding because they know they'll be overruled by their legislatures. Especially Jindal, the guy who everyone's expecting will run against Obama in 2012. He's just schmoozing to the far right base by saying he's going to turn down part of the money. If he really doesn't think Louisianna needs federal assistance, why hasn't he sent FEMA packing?

There maybe a constitutional question here in regards to this.

What are they going to do next year since they refuse to do the right thing?

Like I said, there maybe a constitutional issue here.

You should know all about sucking off the people.

How much FEMA is still there?

James, I think arthur was just discribing himself. I think he really meant to say that he's all fluff and no fiber.

he graph was posted on MSNBC two days ago. 57 percent think it will do NO good 26 percent said it may do a little good, the rest said it would do a lot of good. Before the vote this pig was slipping fast, thus the rush to vote. The approval according to CNN was only 37 percent by the people polled by them. You can't say that CNN or MSNBC would have any republican leaning.
