A Russian answer to Iran's threat
***
It's never easy to dismiss a guy like Scowcroft. He's got me wondering about this. Obviously there are a numberof reasons to maintain a close andcooperative relationship with Russia. One of the most important of these relates to Moscow's influence over Tehran. If we get what we want in Iran and come out on better terms with Russia, it could potentially pay dividends for decades.
On the other hand, Russia could play us and try to regain some of its lost international power at our expense. They've been doing it for a while now. And Iran could justflip the world off and create a small stockpile of tactical nukes no matter what Russia does and tries to do.
What do you think?
