Default Can't release Gitmo detainees out of fear for their life.

The military says the men have ties to a militant group that demands separation from China. The United States will not release the Uighurs to their home for fear they will be tortured. Earlier this month, Beijing warned other countries not to accept the men, creating a diplomatic roadblock to President Barack Obama's plan to close the facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, within a year

Obama said close the place, so close it. Send these guys home.

I'll bet Obama doesn't follow through with this "promise" much like he's not going to get all the troops out of Iraq as quickly as promised. He's going to learn that things aren't that easy after all. BUT, promises buy elections!

Don't hold your breath about GITMO not getting closed. He'll just move the "detainees" to the U.S. and provide a comfortable living from now on--with your tax dollars of course.

In lies the twist. The courts have already said they cannot be brought to America. And China has said they cannot be excepted by any other country. Kind of a catch 22

I didnt know we were doingwhat they said. If we did, we would have killed these guys. Instead we are giving them room and board. The question is, what do we do with these guys if we close gitmo.

I hadn't heard anything about a court ruling prohibiting detainees being brought to the states. I thought that I did hear something about Democratic politicians who criticized Gitmo being opposed to the terrorists being relocated to their districts. Can anybody clarify these two issues?

The ruling was the courts don't have the juridiction to rule on this. Imigration falls under the Executive Branch
