Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Your medical records could be sold

How many of you all know that in this stimulus bill everyone's medical records will be turned into electronic database and could be sold if the HHS secretary wishs? It's bad enough the government will force everyone into this system. You know they can be trusted with private records. Just ask Joe the plumber, Linda Trip or the 1000 people who had there FBI files sitting in the White House. The HHS has the authority to waive anyone and everyone's privacy rights if he or she chooses. The government will be able to sell your information.

Hey arthur, this is a real example of loosing privacy rights not the Patriot Act myth you keep complaining about without putting up a singlereason it's so bad.

You really need to step away from the computer and get a breath of fresh air. Your brain is suffering from an overdose of wingnut blog gas.

Nothing in the bill gives HHA the right to circumvent individual privacy rights. In fact, those records provisions reinstate medical privacy terms that were eroded under the Bush administration. The gov't will NOT have the right to sell anyone's records.

By the way, you do realize that DUBBYA created the post, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, FIVE YEARS AGO! We've been working on changing over to electronic medical records the whole time since. You do know that, right?

Sorry arthur your wrong. It's in there that the HHS has the power to waive your right to privacy. It was being discussed yesterday on my local radio station. They were reading it right out of the bill. Somewhere around page 459. Sorry for not having the exact page but I was busy yesterday. I will continue to look for it but funny, not even you know whats in this bill yet you support it.[:@]

Oh, I see. I'm wrong because you heard it on a radio talk show. Well.... that's a whole different ball of wax there. We ALL know how reliable talk radio is for a fact source.

You find it and show me where it is IN THE BILL, and I'll take a look at it. Doesn't mean I'll agree with your interpretation of it, but I'll look at it.

FYI, I know Rush says the PDF format isn't searchable by keyword. Well, he's a doofus and ought to get a 6 year old to come and help him with his computer skills. Click the binoculars on the left side of the screen and it opens up the search window. Have fun.

You might need to look at this also, because there is a definition in there of what an 'entity' is. There is a clause in the bill that mentions a non-covered entity. 160.103 of title 45, Code of Federal Regulations

Your record maybe sold for research.

That's just one item. Also in there somewhere, gotsickof reading, the HHS secretary has the right to waive the restriction put in place for privacy.

The record can be sold for research, but not the identity that goes with the record. Center for Disease Control has been doing that for years. Get a grip, will ya?

No I won't get a grip arthur. Unlike you, I don't trust my government will any of my records. History has proven they can't be trusted. specially, when the Dems are involved.

Joe the plumber's records were breached.

Linda Trip's records were breached.

Clinton's white house had 900 FBI files of their opponents.

No I have very good reason why not to trust our government.

Okay. You have an irrational fear of Democrats and an equally irrational faith in Republicans. I would suggest counseling, but that treatment would go into your medical record....

Please post where I broke down the distrust amoung the parties? Here is what I stated:
Quote:

The constitution doesn't give the government the right to my medical records. You may wish to ignore these things but I can not.Specially when HHS can waive allthe protestions they supposedly have.

You still have not shown me in the bill where it says HHA has the right to waive your privacy. You're still going off what somebody said in a radio talk show?

I've been looking, but I can't find the Amendment that forbids the government from having your medical records. Please point it out.
