Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The disease spreads...

PESHAWAR, Pakistan "“ The government agreed to impose Islamic law and suspend a military offensive across much of northwest Pakistan on Monday in concessions aimed at pacifying the Taliban insurgency spreading from the border region to the country's interior.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090216/ap_on_re_as/as_pakistan

The announcement came as three missiles believed fired from a U.S. drone aircraft destroyed a house used by a local Taliban commander elsewhere in the northwest, killing 30 people, witnesses said.

The cease-fire, in Pakistan's Swat Valley hundreds of miles from the missile strike in Kurram, will likely concern the United States, which has warned Pakistan that such peace agreements allow al-Qaida and Taliban militants operating near the Afghan border time to rearm and regroup.

.....so, Sharia Law eh? [8D]

If we're going to have a presence in Afghanistan then we're gonna have to stop ***** footing with Pakistan and lay down the law, if they don't want the Taliban and Al-Queda taking over their own little Third World sheithole they need to be far more proactive assiting us than they have been up to now. If we left Afghanistan tomorrow the Taliban and Al-Queda would first retake the country, then they'd set their sights on Pakistan so that they could grab their nukes and missile technology. The Pakistani goob spends entirely too much time worrying about pissing off tribal chiefs internally, and nowhere near enough worrying about the serpent in their own back yard.

BTW: Afghanistan re-instated Islamic law in 2004.Yep, the same religious police who hassled women under the Taliban are up to their old tricks in Afghanistan.

Last year an Afghan religious crazy was arrested for marrying a 7 year old girl to a 17 year old boy.[:'(][:@]

Afghan police have detained an Islamic cleric for allegedly presiding over the marriage of a seven-year-old girl to a teenage boy in a remote northern town, police have said.

The groom, his father and two brothers were also detained in the northern province of Jawzjan last week, provincial police chief Khalilullah Aminzada said. They have been accused of violating a law that bans marriage for girls who are under 16 and men under 18, and are due to face trial, Mr Aminzada said.

"We learnt that a seven-year-old girl was being married to a man aged 17 or 18," he said. "We went there and detained them and the mullah who conducted the nikah (part of the marriage rites)," he said. he Afghan Government is trying to stamp out the practice of marrying off young girls, sometimes to men decades older than they are.

About 57 per cent of Afghan girls are married before 16, according to the UN Development Fund for Women, UNIFEM.

Sometimes these marriages are to settle disputes or debts.
And between 70 to 80 per cent of women are forced to marry someone chosen for them, most often by their families, UNIFEM says
