Default Isn't it Ironic

Muzzammill Hassan, founder of the Bridges TV cable network , designed to "improve the image of Muslims in America", is being held for cutting off the head of his estranged wife. This type of murder is most often associated with Islamic terrorists (or as Helen Thomas might call them "alleged terrorists") The networks slogan is "connecting people through understanding". Unfortunately the head of Mrs Hassan is no longer connected to her torso. NPR's show "All Things Considered" had profiled the Hassans in 2004. Wonder if this will improve the image of Muslims in America.

Isn't also strange this has recieved no national attention?

To be honest, my image of Muslims couldn't get any worse. When I read your post, my reaction was, "typical Muslim behavior." [:'(]

Goes along with the local Muslim "father" who stabbed his teenage daughter to death because she was seeing a non-muslim boy.

A guy killed his wife and this is news? Just proves they are no better or worse than we are. It is ironic though that this guys job is what it is. Also proves people don't need a gun to kill somebody. Guns are a relatively new addition.

It is also ironic that people can't put things like this into a historical perspective. On the surface people use things like this to lump a whole culture into one abhorent group, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Makes me wonder if people would feel better being murdered by an American rather than a Muslim.Did ya know that Arizona is in some figures the kidnapping capital of the world next to Mexico city. I'll bet the place is over run with Muslm's.

Biblicaly speaking this reminds me of a time when man believed in no God, just after, there was a famine, hmmm. "Everyone did what was right in their own eyes".

All this pales in comparison to the lack of compassion that should be being sent out to those who've lost someone special to them. But hey, one less breeding Muslim aye.[:@]That should help improve our own image in the Muslim world and help foster the kind of change of heart we need right here at home.[&o]

True, the killing of ex-spouses is not unheard of in our society. Even more common perhaps, is the desire to do so. But this one has a uniquely Islamic style. When you hear about it, you are inclined to think the guy is either some kind of nut or a Muslim.

Why? Other than it was in fact done by a Muslim. Come on, what difference does it make if a guy walks into an office and kills his wife or the multitudes of women who are killed in their own homes as a result of domestic violence? We are just as guilty of some very disgusting violence. They don't use guns is all. How un-American!

Got nothing agin you DLG. You remind me of my own.

The honor killing of females is rampantin the middle east.In the Koran there is a list of relatives who are duty bound to kill females who have brought dishonor on the family.A lady who is avictim of rapeis often killed in Palestine and Jordan. Women are killed for refusing an arranged marriage and for asking for a divorce.

Worked in the middle east for many years. One day the Jordanian i worked with went ape$hit over a letter from his daughter. He threatened to kill her.

This article is a good place to get educated on honor killings in Islam:

"Rampant" is a bit strong a word. Yeah, it happens. It's not commonplace. Some countries are worse than others.

I saw a news clip 'video' where a group of girls were attacked and beaten for drinking in a bar in India, brutal video. Really shows the culture difference.

I could do a search and would if push came to shove but show a difference in any culture where woman are not taken advantage of? It's human nature for the strong to take abvantage of the weak.

Lets say you are right and women are treated much more harshly in the entire Muslim community (knowing some your steching it so thin...) How does demonizing a culture cause a positive change? Bigotry is a form of healing? Is that what your saying?

"If a cretan comes up to you and tells you all cretanes are liars can you believe them?"
