Something BIG is happening; 9 U.S. states declare sovereignty
[/align]Last week, I reported on this blog that the New Hampshire Legislature made a dramatic declaration warning the federal government that they risk "nullifying the Constitution."

Within the past 7 days, eight other U.S. states have made similar declarations of their sovereignty!

Clearly something "big" is up. These types of actions by state legislatures rarely if ever take place, and I know of absolutely no time in US history when so many states made such declarations within such a short period of time.

WHAT IF. . . . . .
The states disband the federal government; which is within their power to do via Constitutional Convention, then walk away from the entire $20 TRILLION U.S. National Debt?

They could tell the creditors to go collect the money from the people who borrowed it. . . . . Oh, wait. . . . . . they no longer exist . . . . . too bad. Bye.

We could be witnessing the foundation of the biggest financial ****-job in the history of the world as US states dissolve the federal government that borrowed all the money!

Below are links to the nine states (so far) that have made sovereignty declarations of one type or another.

I dont think any of states can succeed from the union. Only Texas still has that right. If I"™m not mistaken.

Interesting though.

States declaring their sovereignty isn't quite the same as seceding from the union. Any state can give the feds the boot any time they want. Of course, their tax dollars go with them, so you haven't seen any of them do it until now. The federal government finally got upside-down enough financially to make it worthwhile. Look for more of this kind of thing. There's about 20 states kicking this idea around right now.

Much ado about nothing.

There's a big difference between states making declarations of sovereignty, as the author implies in the blog post that is C&P'ed here, and a legislator(s) in those states introducing a bill that would make such a declaration. Out of the 9 states listed above which have supposedly "declared sovereignty," I didn't see any of them (and that includes New Hampshire) that have actually adopted a declaration of sovereignty. The links don't work on a couple of them. It isn't about out-of-control spending, either, in several of them. In Missouri, the measure's sponsors are concerned about abortion and the Freedom of Choice Act. In Montana, the bill's sponsors are concerned about gun rights. In Oklahoma, it's an effort that dates back to last year and is a combination of things. That Hawaii website isn't a website that is sanctioned by the state government of Hawaii.

Ok, my learned brothers...this old dog pleads ignorance.
What is the difference between 'declaring sovereignty' and 'seceding' from the Union ?
I guess I don't know what a declaration of sovereignty means....(shame on me).

I guess it's fair to say that a declaration of sovereignty means that you want to remain a part of the country but you're saying to Big Brother, "You ain't the boss of me!" while secession means you're telling Big Brother to go &^$! himself.

Much to do about nothing for now. The real story is right here with towns and counties threatening to withold payments to the state of California. You remember that place don't you? Where they are mailing IOU's to tax payers who are entittled to their money back?

Hopefully that will get the States attention! Its absolutely ridiculous! If I end up getting an IOU this year, I guarantee you that I won't be paying ANY taxes next year!!

Unfortunately they have the guns and the jail. Back during the S&L crisis. Folks in the state of MD mailed their tax returns in with a check from MD State insured accounts from those very same collapsed institutions. I totally agreed with their positions, however, the state got the last laugh because they have the guns and the jail.
