Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The Courage of Detroit

Not a huge fan of Mitch, but he nailed this one.

Good article Germ,
You have to admire the spirit of the folks in Detroit. I just think all that spirit and grit should be focused in the right direction. Since this is a political forum, I would like to give my take on it as an outsider.

I think Detroit ought to be free to manufacture the automobiles people want to buy. I think America has it's own distinct culture, and a big part of that culture is the automobile. Sadly, that culture is being attacked by folks who think the automobile, and the freedom to get in one and be.....well free is being deamonized. We are being encouraged to drive less. We are lectured how the automobile is causing climate change. As we speak, I think it's Oregon who is coming up with a plan to monitor miles driven, and tax accordingly. Detroit is being forced to meet CAFE standards, and my guess it that don't come cheap.

Do people really want a car you have to plug in every couple hundred miles and recharge? Heck no they don't. They want a real car. Detroit should not even have to entertain the nonsense that the left is throwing at it.

And that is where I am stumped. It is the left that has gone on an all out assault on the evil automobile, and Algore has even said the the "automobile is the biggest threat to mankind." If we don't change our driving habits, the earth will be destroyed.

So here is my question; Why on earth could anybody in Michigan vote for the loony left? They do every election. I know, it all has to do with the Union. But, is the Union really helping matters?Really, think about it. Has the Union really helped matters, when weighed against everything that seems to be attacking the Auto industry right now? IE. the loony left.

I thought it was ironic that the article mirrored Detroit's sports teams with its Auto industry, and manufacturing as a whole. I think the answer is right there.

Does the political philosophy in Detroit allow for competition to thrive in Detroit?

For the sake of Detroit, it better.

And I'm not talking about sports.

Detroit has it issues that is for sure, but they are not "Left". My Grandfather worked at the plant in the article for 30+ years he was a Democrat, but he was not left. Democrats of today are not my Gradfathers Democrats. The Legacy of vote Democrat has stayed with Detroit.

As for the Union, there is Histroy here with union and automakers. History some will not ever understand unless you have been here. In 1993 when I started work for GM there was a Salary Lunch Room and Hourly Lunch Room. It was very strange to see the rift between the Union and management.
We had a Republican Govener all through the 90's here in MI. If you head to the West side of the state the shores of Lake Michigan Bleeds Red[&:]

We all have confuse conservate with Repulican and Liberal wtih Democrat. There are a pile of Democrats with conservative views, and pile of Republicans with liberal views. We have let the radical factions of both parties label and seperate them both.

I wrote the sentors in congress this past week, Levin and Debbie(the big woman) about my thoughts on the "Stimulas". My GrandFather is rolling over in his grave on what the Democrats have become I told them both. How they use to fight for hard workng Americans, and now they fight to hurt our ways of living. They fight to limit our employers, fight for Tom and Bob to be married, they fight for a sub par Healthcare system. Who is fighting for the workers in American these days? What have they done to bring business here in MI?

In MI are Democrat Govener has cut taxes to make movies, she has all but given land(state land)to Yota to build a huge testing track here in Ann Arbor, she has lowerd the Age of the hunting from 12 to 10 to get more people hunting. She also has rasied taxes on me[:@]. She did things that were not Liberal or conservative, they were right to do.

She gave a pretty good speech, she has outlined whatwe have to do inMI.Maybe wewill get it done, maybe we won't. When the next "Detroit" happens we will not be throwing mud, we will be putting out a hand for help.

I'm at a loss explaining what todays politicians have in mind. Financial gain seems to be the goal for most.
We as Americans are going to have some tough times ahead, and the sad part is its the greatest generation who are the ones taking the brunt of our own selfishness.

If you really want to change thins up the get rid of everyone who is in the house and senate at this time at the next election. Regardless what you think about the person running against the incumbent, vote them in to replace what you already have.

Stevie Y., went to a rival high school here. All the high schools' sport players knew he'd make the NHL.
