Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I guess "The One" will soon get his chance to shape the Court.

He'll just be replacing one old liberal with a new one, sucks but it won't radically alter things.

For a second there I thought this would be a good opportunity for the Republicans to give Obama's Supreme Court nominees the kind of treatment Democrats have given to Republican nominees in the past. I forgot, however, that this probably requires cooperation from the news media. Remember the circus of the news media coverage of Clarence Thomas? If Obama's nominee gets royally grilled by the Republican senators, somehow I don't think that is going to get broadcast live on all the major networks, extending into prime time. Am I seeing clearly into the crystal ball?

If the confirmations of Hillary, Geithner and Holderare any indication of how the Republicans in the senate vote on confirmations; a Golden Retriever wouldbe confirmed as aSCOTUS justice.

There really is nothing the Republicans can do, it only takes two of them joining the Dems to give them anything they want. However there a a few Dems who might have the guts to stand up for the constitution instead of the party, we can hope anyway.

Can I at least say I hope her health improves, and she doesn't undergo any undue suffering. I hope she and her family have all the support they need right now.

I watched one of my best friends die from pancreatic cancer less than two years ago. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy--I'd heard it was one of the most painful ways someone can die, and I believe it.

If she retires (she's 76), at least there's not much of a chance she can be replaced with someone further to the left--she's about as left-wing as they get. Dang shame we won't get a chance to replace her with someone that was even a centrist.
