There is the key right there. Even if the bill passes the Senate, the democrats need to say this was a bipartisan bill. The only thing bipartisan about the House version was the "no" vote. There were 11 Democrats that voted "no" with Republicans. So far the only yes votes have been Democrats.
This package of pork is not as popular as Obama would have everybody believe. I think it is becoming less popular as each day passes.To call it a "stimulus" bill is absurd. It is a disaster. I think Obama just assumed the Republicans would cave in and be spineless like they have been lately and just go right along with it. The Republicans in the House finally acted like they were not democrats.
I really don't want a gang of 14. To me that means there will probably be a compromise. The best thing that can happen is that every Republican Senator vote against it, and if that is known going in, I don't thinkthe bill will pass.
The Dems. cannot afford to completely, solely own this. That is the biggest fear the Dems. have. It is their bill. Pelosi said so, and Obama said "We won."
So let them have it.

You got to be kidding. I saw Al Gore on T.V. yesterday saying this has to pass or the world will end. That was after he got off his private jet and took his private limo to the venue.

Unintended consequences and God have one thing in common: Liberals don’t believe in either of them.
The country is in to bad of shape for the Republicans to fight this plan, especially after what they have done while in power. The party is hurting itself with so many americans suffering. It will pass, and needs to pass, to allow Obama to get on with some other fixes.
