How long before oil company execs come hat in hand for their bailout?
Quote:
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands "“ Royal Dutch Shell PLC, Europe's largest oil company, said Thursday it swung to a net loss of $2.81 billion in the fourth quarter, as the price of oil fell sharply and it wrote down the value of inventory.
In the same period a year earlier, Shell had $8.47 billion in net profit.
Consideringhow they bled the US consumer nearly dry for over two years and helped toprecipitate the current recessionI'm having difficulty allowing my heart to bleed for them.

They didn't bleed anyone dry. If they controlled prices, they wouldn't have a loss. I have no sympathy for them, but also no illusion that they stick it to the consumer any more than normal market forces.

It could be abit ironic. You drag them in front of Congress to demand why they are making so much money, then a short time later you have them wanting to go in front of Congress to ask for money.

RE: Shell Had 2.8 Billion Loss in 4th Qtr
Demos wont give them crap. Remember big oil is the bad guy. Demos want to take their profits from them and use them on social programs. So what will happen, The Middle East will tighten its grip on our short and curlys, which Obama has handed them by banningoil exploration here, and we will be seeing gas go throught the roof. Which will be fine for the Demos because they want to force us to go green, even though it is not obtainable at this moment in time. No phase out, make gas prices hurt so bad, we have to change. Just like Rangle said, tax them to the point they have to go green. Id love to go green, but I want a phase in and phase out period. Not cold turkey, at the expense of our economy.
