Default Is Maine going green?

Is Maine really going green with the starting up of another windfarm project. New Englands largest windfarm went on line Thursday noon at Stetson Mountain.Produceing about 32 megawatts of power with the capacity to produce up to 57 megawatts by days end. This along with the Mars Hill farm that has already been running has made Maine the leader in the New England states.
The Stetson project alone could produce the equivalent of the electricity needed to power 23,500 homes and what would be produced by burning about 331,000 barrels of oil a year. This in turn will eliminate the emission of some 76,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
With alot more windfarms being built or are currently in planning the state plans on going as far as possible with windfarms.
State officials are also working to lure wind power turbine and blade manufacturers to Maine.
So it looks like some light maybe coming to the end of the tunnel. With in 3 or 4 more years the state will be going strong on wind power and hopes to attract more businesses into the area with these fast moving projects..

You can read about it here if you wish to..www.bangordailynews.com/detail/97865.

Being as independant as possible from foriegn oil is where it is at and I feel this is a good way to start..

This stuff has been ging on for along time now. We have seen alot of jobs go away as well. It used to be quite a booming little neighborhood here growing up. Now all we have is Wally World and not very much else.[:@]Maine is a realatively big state with it's population scattered about. The population is not very big either.

Yeah, we tried nuke but that was the biggest flop we ever saw up here. Finally they tore it down and now are still trying to figure out what to do with all the waste from it. It was suposed to head to a desert out west and that didn't happen so it is sitting in drums wondering what to do with it now?

About 25 miles across the river in New Brunswick, Canada they have a nuclear plant that may want it..We also have uranium not far from here at a mine they have been working. It is hard to get a mine up here though as the terrain changes to quickly.
