I keep hearing on here how God has been thrown out of the schools. Here's what I saw and heard when I went to my daughters District winter concert last night.
When I went to the highschools auditorium there were three different signs on the doors that read" Join the Bible club we meet in the auditoruim after school on wednesday and fridays at 3:30."
Sat down watched my daughters 5th grade choir perform and then the 7th and 8th grade select choir came out and sang of all things a gospel tune "Jonah" then the regular 7th and 8th grade choir also sang a gospel tune.
When we were leaving one of the other parents was talking about the religious ed class her elementery student attends, during school hours and the walk the kids over to the church which is right next to the school?
How could all this be going on in upstate NY and no where else?

Regardless of everything that is done to stop talking about Jesus there is still some fight left in Christians ..... if anyone complained the signs would have to be taken down and the songs not sang.
The mythical seperation of church and state you know ....
Good for your local schools though, glad to here it. You going to a Revival this weekend maybe ?
I believe the after school Bible clubs are going on in many areas. The schools allow all kinds of clubs to volunarily meet after school.
That issue has gone to the courts and been upheld. They can not discriminate.

I think the fact that this sort of thing is available after school sort of proves "God has been thrown out of the schools."

Let me guess... this "District winter concert" used to be a Christmas concert. But now, the sing a token Christian song or two...

Did you get the full conversation? Did that child attend a private school? Was it a public school that hold a "religions" class, surveying all the world's religions?
Or, is it a public school, that takes children off school property to allow them to study religion?
mandatory religious observance is what has been removed
bring them back IMO ,,,, removing prayer is a negative, not a positive, and I could give a rats ass if it offends a Hindu or a Buddhist or an Atheist or a Muslim. See, that "not sugar coating things" again is coming out in me ......
Some schools are still Christian schools, where they teachbased heavily on Christianity. But, those are private schools, and they are not forced into the same rules and regulations as public schools. The public schools are the ones removing God from everything. And that Bible club you spoke of sounds to me like a group of individuals organized that after school, and the actual school had nothing to do with organizing it, nor can they do anything to stop it. Kids can pray all day long in school and then go to a bible club after school and god has been thrown out?

NNNNNNNNNN you get no points and 50 points will be deducted from your score. They have it in mid January and bring the kids all together, our district has 5 elementary schools.

Answer this: Did they ever have a Christmas concert, musical, or program, in the history of the school? And, do they now have one?
