Forests in the Pacific Northwest are dying twice as fast as they were 17 years ago, and scientists blame warming temperatures for the trend, according to a new study.
The data for this research was gathered by generations of scientists over a 50-year period at multiple sites in Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and southwestern British Columbia. Seventy-six forest plots, all more than 200 years old, were monitored by scientists doing some of the most rudimentary research -- counting trees.
"My guess is that forest loss has the potential to greatly exceed forest establishment," <quote>
Sorry, I just don't believe the Global warming propaganda....Snow on beaches in North Carolina today, Below freezing temps south of Miami, and some if the coldest weather to hit the midwest and Northeast in years...I just don't but into it...

Perhaps the wise thing to do is increase logging so that we can get the max revenue from the timber before it becomesbeatledust.

Agreed Fm- sounds like a good idea to me- it will be either beetle dust or go up in smoke.

Do they really believe that such a tiny slice of time is representative of the long term picture? Weather changes by the minute, and has no long term trends outside the already known and predictable models. At any moment we're all just a tick of the clock away from some volcano releasing billions of tons of CO2 and other gases, and the predominant cause of global warming, water vapor, is something we can't survive without. Adapt or go extinct, no brain surgery involved there.

I read the article on another site, proves nothing even says so.
One thing that is true is found ina NASA report on why the ice is melting, an "unusual wind". The wind changed direction in 05 and I think it's already changed back or will very soon. In the mean time it is apparent that the white house is being lobbied for millions/billions of dollars and many know that the fist hundred days are crucial. If the new Pres. is going to have an administration above board he'd better treat this differently than all most all administrations of the past that were used by lobbyist to clean up on tax payer money. They pushed a lot of hot air too.
Whats the worse that can happen even if the worse where to happenthat they expect to happen,in all this/these things?
Adopt or die is right.
