Let me start off by saying this: I made no secret of the fact that I supported neither Barack Obama nor John McCain in the election. I thought that we had 2 weak candidates from which to choose, and nothing has happened to change my point-of-view since then. But Barack Obama is my president. I'm a conservative, but I'm an American first. And Obama is the commander in chief of my country. I have my doubts about what his leadership will bring, but I hope for the best. It's been said by others, but if Obama is a success, we win as a nation. If he fails, we lose. So I'm hoping that Obama goes down as one of the best presidents our nation has ever had.
With that obligatory disclaimer out of the way, I have been listening to and reading comments all day from people on the left who are understandably giddy about the events of this day. I keep seeing statements like "We must come together as one America," and "We must unite."
Just out of curiosity, where were these same people the past 8 years? They weren't too interesting in coming together and uniting then.
Yeah, I know. Partisan politics; expect no different. But after 30 or 40 of those eye-rolling comments, geez.

Same with all liberal dogma, you must unite under their idea of what America should be or you are a racist, sexist, etc. I guess Pelosi's charge to lead an investigation of Bush is the left's idea of coming together.

RE: Just out of curiosity
I made the statement once that I hope the best for Obama for the same reasons you stated. I said I was not going to wish harm or failure on the president like the liberals did on Bush. I was told I was an idiot and there was never any wishing of failure on our president. I recall a few rock stars hoping we lose a million men in Iraq to prove Bush is a failure. And others who promises to leave this country and hope Bush fails.

I'm curious to know if the Bush people trashed the place like the Clinton's did before Bush moved in. I'd like to know if there is a difference in character between the democrats in power and republicans in power....
DougMD I doubt GW trashed the White House or any of his crew, they trashed the country months and years ahead of his last day, enough damage was already done

Just as many here in Wy feared being called homophobes & or didnt bend over to fill the gay agenda/ to make him amartyr- when a gay man was assulted & killed here& that we should allimbrace homosexualty & that he was somehow a very speical victim- much better then all the others killed injured here, including the childen by the pedifile etc.
And if of course whenwedidnt agree with all that & the speical laws etc-we where just all haters, rednecks, homophobes etc - same as ppl who throw arond the race cards in many ways.

Same things happened when Wy was one of the last states to adapt the goverments mandated Mlk holiday- lotsa name calling etc . Federal goverment even threated to cut off the states hiway funding etc from what i understand.
Same with the wolf reintro- if the goverment wants to mandate & use blackmale to should be payinfg for it all imo.
