I've had nothing but trouble with U.S.Cellular's custromer service. These people don't care about you(their customer) and your bills. They act like they're giving you great discounts etc...when you complain about overages etc..when really they're still charging you more... it's like a 25% off sale at a store after the merchandise has been increased in price by 50%.
Maybe you guys can come up with another business model that works the way cell phone companies do, but I for one could not.
What other industry is there that you buy a certain amount of something hoping not to use it all, and then when you do use more of it they charge you astronomical amounts / penalties for doing so?
Why must we buy a minutes package for cell phones? why can't we just be charged for the amount of minutes we use? and then when we do use more than our minutes allowed, what gives these companies the rights to charge us these insane amounts?
Recently I went over my text limit, when I found out I increased my package for $5 to unlimited, but they were unwilling to adjust my overages because I had used more than my previous text package amount, ie because it was a new month, mind you, I had just received that months bill, so this was already next month that I found out I had gone over. So I wanted to pay only the $5 more, not the $75+ more in overages they were wanting to charge me. They gave me $25 off, as if they were doing me a huge favor, also they corrected this months overages, HELLO! i now have unlimited and youre telling me youre doing me a favor by not charging me more the currents months overages, that's just called doing what you should already be doing!
So I called multiple times, talked to multipe supervisors, and all were unwilling to do anything. I love how they cite we've already discussed this matter and consider it resolved. When I hang up out of frustration...or because everyone is unwilling to do anyting, I don't consider that resolved and I call back.
Am I asking for something that's extreme? A cell company that charges you for the minutes you actually use, not for a pre-determined package of minutes, who then rape you when you go over with these overages/penalties? The cell phone industry invented the world "overage" didn't they? they must have.
In all honesty most wireless is because there is a seperation between the customer service and network operations. Customer service can be contracted out - its not their company, they don't care - and/or at a local level each retailer don't make money unless they're selling phones - field trouble tickets isn't their concern.
Sprint sells a $99 plan that is unlimited everything - buy a very nice PDA, if you've got good Sprint coverage in your area you'll love it because we (I work for Sprint) have the best 3G service of anyone, all the bells and whistles. $99 a month for unlimited calls, text, photo, internet ..... I cut all my lines 4 years ago. Wireless phone, wireless internet ........ technology is damn nice in today's world
if you want rock bottom I can make a phone call service, Cricket offers that. 1 price for unlimited I think .... but you get to make a phone call and thats about it (you get what you pay for)
...if you've got good Sprint coverage in your area ...
That's the key. I tried Sprint a few years ago. The coverage was supposed to be great in my area, but it was horrible. My dad just tried Sprint a few weeks ago in southern Oregon. Again, coverage was supposed to be great.......... he had NO coverage at his house.
Have you tried Verizon Wireless ? Here on the east coast, it's really tops and I've used it from
Seboomook in Maine all the way down to the Low country area in S. Carolina. There tops out here,
in my opinion....don't know how they are out west tho'....
I hate admitting it, but the coverage etc....all works fine, its the customer service that is beyond annoying.
I pay like $60/mo for my service, and my overages that one month were $75! Anytime anything goes wrong you're just ripe for the picking by these companies I feel.
IfI don't use all my minutes, I don't get charged less, but oh dare I go over, and it's like well you used the service...and you agreed to pay $1/min if you went over, its right there in your contract. Then you try to reason with these people, not only do they give you attitude, but you don't get anywhere with the regular guy, only the supervisor may do anything, half the time they won't. Also depends on if your supervisor is being nice that day. They act like they're doing you a favor by saying hey, I'll credit you $25, when they already overcharged you $100!, sorry I'm not so appreciative for such a generous offer.
I'm starting a non-profit cell phone company when I hit it big, put all these people out of business. You'll never get an overage, you won't have to buy a pre minute package. I'll even pay your break your contract penalty for switching over to my cell phone company. We won't even have a customer service department, since you won't need one.You won't sign a 2yr contract to get a deal on the phone, the phones will be 1 price. You won't even have a contract. So the phone you paid $100 won't be $350 to replace... it'll be $100.
I'd love someone else to start my idea, because it's going to be a few years before I'm a billionaire...haha.
The coverage was supposed to be great in my area, but it was horrible. My dad just tried Sprint a few weeks ago in southern Oregon. Again, coverage was supposed to be great.......... he had NO coverage at his house.
Thats because the store and people selling the phone + plan wasn't Sprint - they were contractors, independents .... Sprint isn't their company, not their network, they care ONLY to sell the phone + plan, who cares if the guy REALLY gets coverage right ?
Sprint employees would .... sadly the past 3 CEO's for Sprint killed us, especially with the NEXTEL merger and Hesse ? Remains to be seen, but with $2.20 stock down from $26.00 3 years ago its not looking good
I just really cant feel sorry for you. You know beforehand how many texts you can do in a billing cycle and you go over and then cry about it. Easy solution , dont text so much. How much of your texting is really needed as compared to the unnecessary.
