Been a Republican for 50 years. That will end as soon as I can get to the the court housethis morning. Aint' drinking their poisoned Kool Aid any more.
Those Wall St. fat cats were allowed to keep their golden parachutes and their obscene bonuses when the fed and congress bailed them out to the tune ofabout 3.5 trillion dollars. Paulson decided to go against the intent of congress and buy bank stock with much of the bailout money that congress authorized. That stock lost about 15 billion last month.
I never heard one work of criticsim of this policy from Republican congressmen. But let the auto companies ask for a loan in the same amount that the US government lost last month on bank stock and the whining and caterwauling starts.
If those auto companies go bankrupt the Republican party will lose big
in the 2010 elections: The party will go from irrelevancyto near extinction.
Spent a career in the US Army. Got my buttshotin service to this country. Watched as the entire Republican leadership in congress was taken over buy a bunch of cowardly draft dodgingchickenhawks.
I watched as my military retirement was permanently reduced by that silly Gramm, Rudman, Hollings deficit reduction act that becamelaw after the Reagan tax cuts.Watched as veterans benefits were gutted during the Reagan administration and watched as the Wya bunch attempted to further reduce veterans benefits. Watched as McCain and the Republicans in congress fought an enhanced GI education bill this year.
I watched as the scumbags in the Republican congress cut military brain injury research funding in 06.

RE: I Ceased Being a Republican Today
Any links on this? I have not heard of this yet. I never vote party. Never have, never will. As of late, ive voted more republican than democrat. With that said, I did vote for a democrat governer last election.
But like Alsatian said, you might look at the party in charge. Unless Bush pulled an override. But I have not heard of any of this yet. Last I heard, the CEOs themselves said they will not take a bonus. With the exception of the Merrilynch turd who wanted his 10 million bonus. But that got squashed quick.

As of today I am free of that corrupt party.
Good eye Falcon Good for You!
Before you go throwing a big Democrat Kool-Aid party of your own, please note that, although Falcon says he "ceased being a Republican," he did not say he was throwing his hat in the ring with your guys either... Based on his posts, I believe Falcon is fairly conservative, by nature, and, like a lot of conservatives, is not pleased with the direction the Republican Party has taken of late. Being a conservative, who is unhappy with Republicans, does not make one a Democrat or a liberal...
Republicans are corrupt? Turn on the news ,they aint the only ones, and the dems, and even the great indie, R.paul, aint exactly pro military funding either FYI. Plenty of draft dodge to go around too.
So what are you gonna be now? Democrat? Do you think your more in line w/ pelosi, reed, and obama than the republicans? An indy? Well its your choice of course ,and maybe even an admirable one, but can someone please explain what good, voteing for "joe the independant cadidate" if you know they're only gonna get 5% of the vote, does?
Personally, I'm anti bailout of any kind, wall steet or auto industry, these companies cant turn a profit, its byebye as far as Im concerned, just like my shop would and could close ,if I stop making $$. I aint gonna cry to the govt to keep me in biz, Im getting another job, just as these UAW workers should, let em mow lawns , probably do em some good and mabye take some jobs away from the illegals and send em back home.LOL.
From watching the press conference, this morning, of the head of the UAW, he sights repubs as the reason the BS bail out didnt happen, dispite the fact the dems pushed for it and that bush is shamlessly gonna give it to em anyway. So based on that alone, Im gonna stick w/ the pubs, at least till somthing better comes along ,but I aint holding my breath.

Indi is the way to go, for sure. Good luck. Start voting for the candidate and not the party!
No the real problem are the independents folks out there. Independents have no core convictions and vote which ever way the wind is blowing. They control all votes that come out of congress. Furtheremore, this last go around, McCain was elected by Independents not Republicans. Primaries need to be completely closed and no Independent should be allowed to vote in either primary. If they want to vote in a primary, run their own candidate.
