CHICAGO (Reuters) "“ Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has been taken into federal custody at his home, the Chicago Tribune reported on Tuesday citing unnamed sources.

The newspaper said on its website that the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago would not confirm the information.
Blagojevich was the subject of a federal corruption probe.

The article was closed moth, so here is what he was busted on; A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.

It is on CNN now with the federal prosecutor. They got him trying to sell Obamas senate seat.

Illinois law allows Blagojevich to make an appointment while in jail. While the decision would be a disaster for Democrats politically, no one is ruling out that prospect. Any candidate appointed by the jailed governor would be immediately tainted, and would face immense hurdles winning on their own in 2010.

Blagojevich could also appoint a caretaker to the seat, but that also would not bode well for Democrats politically. Having a sitting Democratic senator from Illinois appointed by a jailed governor would hurt the party"™s chances of holding the seat in 2010.

The prosecutor said this has nothing to do with the president-elect. They have Rod on tape calling Obama a "M-F'er" because Obama refused to trade favors for the senate appointment.
