So why all the nit-pickin the Big-3 for a measley $30 billion whenwe (collectively)just let the negligent investment banks on Wallstreet walk away with $700+ billion without having to come back and "submit a detailed plan" like we seem to be demanding of the auto makers?
So where is the "detailed plan" for the $700+ billion Wallstreet got ehh?
I don't recall seeing such demands on this board or in congress when the REAL rich and powerfull came begging.
The response Wallstreet got from congress andthe public atlarge was more like,
"Oh you need some money? You say if I won'tgive it to youthere might be a recession? How much should I make the check out for? Was that fast enough sir? Call me if you need anything else" (all spoken in a cowed, nervous, appologetic voice while grovelling backwards with a forced smile)
This roasting of the big 3 for their requested bailout while excusing and even championing the bailout of the "neo-robberbarons" is inexcuseable, shameful and disgraceful.

Oh, it is much more that the 750 billion congress authorized. There are a few trillion more that the fed has obligated to prop up the banks. The fed operates independently of the US congress: Congress can over-rule a fed decision but they are not going to do that.
The Bush administration is fighting a freedom of information request for a detailed accounting of where the money went and what "collateral," if any, the US holds. We will be surprised in a few months to find out where the money went and what the taxpayers got in return.
What I find funny is that lawmakers want to be able to put execs in jail for mismanaging businesses, harming pension funds, etc. Why can't we threaten those same law makers with jail for mismanaging the funds they are responsible for, damaging social security, etc???
