First amendment and public schools.
In light of the "bong hits for Jesus" afair, the supreme court supports the notion of free speech in school settings. Now for a question along those lines. I have recently become aware of a situation where a young black student in a public school complained about a white student wearing a belt buckle that had a confederate flag on it. The school told the student he could not wear it anymore or it will be taken and never returned. Is this a situation like the "bong hits for Jesus". Is the white students freedom of speech being trampled on? What do you all think?
