If the neo-cons answer truthfully they would have to admit it was the invasion of Iraq, which they pushed so hard for, that marked the begining of the end for the credibility of theBush Administration and, by extension, the right wing. November 4, 2008 was an overwhelming repudiation of the neo-con agenda by the American public.

Indeed it was.The national Republicans abandoned their conservative principles in favor of feel good stuff many years ago. For years theiremphasis has been onstuff like prayer in schools, a constitutional amendment to prevent gay marriage, outlawing abortion, a constitutional amendment to preventflag burning, and outlawing stem cell research.
The Republican "American Values Agenda"played really well for years. Then in 2006 the magic was gone from it and they lost the house and senate.
So it's over. The right has lost big time. Not just the oval office was handed over, but a number of other important slots also went left.
So who do you blame (aside from the media, course )? Can you call a spade a spade?
Not sure I get what the point of this post is, gloating? Do you feel better now?
Obama won because, while a republican occupied in the white house, the stock market crashed and we had economic hysteria, a month before the election, it's that simple. The "right" lost nothing ,conservatives are conservatives because we are in touch with reality. Its the american voters that are "lost".

GW's shadow hurt. McCain as the Republican candidate hurt.
Huckabee / Palin would have been better I think. There was a conservative exodus from the Republican party because of GW and the last 5 years. I voted Chuck Baldwin personally
