BHO is promising to "save" and/or create 2.5 million jobs. I'm curious to know when the Constitution was amended to make it the govt's duty to save/createjobs? As best I can recall, it's the govt's job to PROMOTE the general welfare, notPROVIDE it.
Seems to me the best thing they can do for jobs is get out of the way. Ever had to deal with a gov't office? The last thing I want to see is 2.5 million more of these people. They can't even run their own cafeteria!
Also, how do you count jobs "saved"? I guess if, by the end of his 4 years, there's still 2.5 million people with a job he can announce "mission accomplished"?

For the past eightyears the government has gotten out of the waywhile US jobs went merrily off to China. For the past eight years the governmenthas gotten out of the way of the corrupt moguls who run the banking industry. For the past eight years the government has gotten out of the way of nearly every darn thing. It is high time that government got in the way of a whole lot of stuff.
Obama and congress canfund contracts to repairthefederalhighway system for one. There will be lots of environmental remediation contracts. There will probably be a few crumbs for my little company.
Fellow Republicans: We need to face the fact that Obama was elected POTUS becauseour Republican party was incapable of providing a candidatewho was electable. For the next four or eight years we are stuck with Obama. Instead of wasting our time obsessingabout Obama, we need to get involved inmaking the Republican party more attractive to younger voters and women.

(gasp) is there something wrong with me as I am a young woman who is attracted to the Republican Party?
That's great but you are in a minority group of the aforementioned
It is all in cycles. The majority party always gets the boot. In 4 years, the Republicans will look good agian. Just like after Clintons administration, the Republicans road the wave of change. Now the Democrates are ridding the wave of change.
Gawd, we need a thrid or fourth party.

That is a fact. Can you imagine what would happen if 15-20 Independents were elected to congress in 2010. The Repugnants and the Demonrats in DC would be peeing all over themselves.

Promoting an environment that provides more employment opportunities may not be required by the Constitution but it is good economic policy and will be a welcome change for many people who saw their jobs disappear during the last eight years.
