Foreign Auto Manufacturers Are Not Donating to Victims of the Attack on America Despite Record Sales in the U.S.-Fiction!
Summary of eRumor:
This message says that although U.S. car manufacturers have donated generously to the victims of the Attack on America, the foreign car makers have not. Some versions of the message say the originator surfed the internet and checked out each company"™s website to assemble the list. The eRumor closes with the suggestion that if you"™re going to buy a car, buy American. The Truth:
The donation picture could change as time goes by so these figures should not be taken as the final accounting, but they do clearly demonstrate that foreign car makers are helping the victims of 9/11.
FORD Motor Company $1 million to the Red Cross. A pledge to match employee donations. $550,000 from the Ford Facilities and Dealer groups. $1 million from the UAW"™s Ford National Programs unit.

In light of their companies being ran into the ground, they should have helped America and keep the money. Better yet, can the CEOs who ran the company into the ground and replaced them with CEOs who know what they are doing. Now, their mismanagment it going to cost millions of jobs.

I'm guessing the unions are praying for a bailout, since "reorganization" will likely result in a bankruptcy judge tossing out their collective bargaining agreements.
A loan? Why don't they go to a lending institution?
Gary this problem is way over our heads. Such a mess. I haven't bought a new car for decades. Answer that and there's the fix. I'm rarley alone.
I have little desire to buy something that looses so much value the minute it becomes mine. The industry has been working diligently to kill itself for too long. Take Wally World, for all the hate that place has generated it shouldn't even be remembered, but it prospers, why? It doesn't pander to "the flesh". It doesn't try and use envy, jealousy or pride to sell its goods and because it doesn't it doesn't charge a "sin" price. I can tell a winner from a looser just by the way they use peoples based nature and the auto industry has been using the gutter to sell their products for too long, they won't last. No one will defend them because there's no honor among thieves.
A good friend who was a parts man for a local dealership just lost his job. It was just days after he talked to them about his future there, he needed to know because he was contemplating buying braces for his kid which he did. They said all was fine, no need to worry. My impression of the face of the auto industry, the dealerships, is not good at all. I don't like or tust them, never have. Doesn't surprise meat all that my friend was stuck. He wasn't either.
I'd rather they were bailed out if it kept people employed, but you and I know they have no honor. Good people will still get the shaftwhile they will continue to live like kings. Living like a king doesnt bother me, I got no problem with it just don't do it on my back or worse yet my childrens.
After 9/11 GM, Ford and Chrysler each donated 10 million to 9/11 funds.
That is 30 million from American Car companies.
Honda donated $0.00 but put a message on their board
Toyota Donated $0.00
BMW $0.00
The most any car company outside US donated was 2 million.
GM, Ford and Chrysler are asking for a LOAN, not a bailout. A loan they cannot get because the banks being bailed out are broke.
They have their faults, they are not perfect. Atleast they helped out when the coutry was in need.
This is false! I remember my company, Toyota, matching my donation I made out of my check plus the 1 million they donated themselves. They did this also with Katrina. Toyota is one of the biggest donaters out there.

I do not see what the problem is with just a loan. Back in 1979 when Lee Iacocca and Chrysler asked for a loan we gave it to them and in the long run the USA made money off that deal so why can"™t we just do the same thing now.
And as far as Chrysler it is not their fault Daimler got them in this shape and then dumped them off.
