I don't have an answer, just asking the question. It seems that these two probably made more money in their time in office than any others in history.
Is it purely coincidence that the price of gas is almost identical now to when Bush jr. took office, yet the 8 years he was in it there was nothing but record smashing profits every quarter?
I know oil people will say that thelow price of oil/gas being low is a sign of how bad our economy is. Does that mean that our economy was outstanding 3 months ago when I was paying $4.15 per gallon?
RE: Just how much richer did Bush and Cheney become?
I would think that he wanted to get even richer, he would have just went private sector and used his family connections rather than taking a 200K a year job where his financial records are put under a microscope. His real money will come if he writes a memoir that sells for 15 million bucks.

It is hard for me to believe money would be a motivating factor for any president. They get paid well for life. Just look at Slick. He makes millions a year on speeches add that to his government pay check and book deals. Presidents dont ever have to worry about money.

Also, consider that, while in office, all of their holdings are placed in a blind trust. They don't know whether their assets are invested in oil, or in T. Boone Pickens wind power project... I suspect that most of their funds are kept in a fairly diversified portfolio, and that they've lost money in the last year, just like everyone else...

Facts have no place in this discussion.
Bush went in office, oil went up. Bush comes out, oil goes down. That is what's important.

It now pays over 400K/yr.
Cheney gave up millions (over 10)to go back to work for the American people.
