I thought they were supposed to be against such things since on this board these programs most times get blamed on democrats - even when Republican House and Senate pass such Bills and a Republican President signs such Bills?
Will Republicans ever accept responsibility for passing socialist Bills or forever keep passing the buck to Democrats?
What gives?

Could you be a little more vague please?
I edited one type-O and created another - maybe now the thread title makes more sense - it's a question.[]

Still not sure which bills you are talking about, but there is a difference between most conservatives on this board and the current republican philosophy. The Republican party is becoming too liberal. Bush's greatest failures on the economy stem from his liberal leaning views.
Of course I'm distinguishing between social and fiscal philosophies here.

So you admit that republican administrations have endorsed some socialist programs?

Republican, or Moderate, or conservative, or or or or or. ???
I have nothing to do with either party, so the notion of Republican is a mighty broad term. Just like Democrat. Would Democrat equal all liberals? If so, you need to come explain that to several of my friends. They are rather conservative Democrats.

Look at Bush's original prescription drug program.
RE: Don't Republicans don't support "socialist" programs?
So he did/does support socialism.
I don't hink he was the first to support such socialism however, I would say that Republicans as a prty endorsed policies of government helping the people as soon as FDR enacted many of them.
The idea that Republicans have somehow "recently" embraced social programs and left behind "true conservatism" is patently false - they've been doing all along same as the dems. Fact is a majority of the public want a certain amount of social programs, and perhaps more of these programsas the country and economic environment dictate.

RE: Don't Republicans don't support "socialist" programs?
IMO, republican used to accept limited social programs as a last ditch effort to help the people who find themselves in hard times, but only as a short term measure. It's clear that Democrats want to keep as many people suckling the government teet as possible, for as long as possible. That is the base of their power. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, as it were.
