Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Huckabee came back...

To Iowa today where he did so well. Consequently, I anticipate that he will be a challenger in 4 years. It may be a good strategy as BO will find that he does not have the money to keep his campaign promises, and voters will be dissapointed. And no democratic congress can keep the public trust on taxes forever. Who knows. Maybe this will be the chance.

You didn't notice how people freaked on Plins religious convictions? Huckabee wouldn't have a chance.

Charlie P is right. The time has probably passed when a fundamentalist, creationist evangelical preacher could hope to win enough states to get to 270 electoral votes. He might win all the states McCain did but they only accounted for 163 electoral votes and it is unlikely he could win any more than one or two of the states that went for President-elect Obama who ended up with 365 electoral votes.

Fundamentalist Christians still have a strong hold on the Republican party but in the context of national politics, I think they are a spent force. As Charlie P pointed out, outspoken conservative creationist fundamentalist Sarah Palin's presence on the Republican ticket did not prevent the Democrats from winning all of the traditional Blue states plus a significant number of states that had generally voted for the Republican candidate in the past.

+1

Fundamentalist Christians are also a very fickle force. If a Republican candidate does not back every one of their issues he/she becomes a pariah and they will stay home and sulk onelection day.

*Yawn*

You guys continue with these same arguments over and over and over, yet you offer up NOTHING in the way of factual support for your argument.

The last president to win because of the evangelical vote hasn't even left office yet, and we're to believe that the electorate has shifted so dramatically so suddenly? I think not.

And suddenly any Christian is a "fundamentalist"?

I don't think Mike Huckabee will ever be president, but it isn't because he's a fundamental Christian. It's because his social conservative credentials are his ONLY conservative credentials. And that won't cut it. Conservatives as a whole didn't embrace Huckabee this go-around, and they won't the next go-around.

A lot of folks would have voted for Jimmy Swaggart this year as long ashedidn't have Republicanafter his name on the ballot.

Considering some of the Old Testament style ravings ofthe Pastor of the church that Obama attended for 20 years, some of the paint from that broad fundamentalist brush might be splattered onour President elect as well.
