RE: At least congress is using a little thought about the big 3
Sorry, but their not. The Dems are way too nervous about being stuck with this stupid idea just like the bailout idea. Remember the first failure was blamed on house republicans. How could house republicans block anything? Majority rules and the Dems are the majority. The bill won't pass until Obama is in office.
Here is another idea that has surfaced. Why doesn't the UAW loan the big 3 the money out of their pension fund since this is such a good idea? Don't they or shouldn't they have a stake in this successful out come?

Maybe they are sensing this bail out is unpopular with a large portion of the country. Auto workers are not the only people who are losing jobs, and I think some people are wondering why union workers who are paid much more than them, and who have all the great benefits are getting bailed out and they are not. This may be turning into a class envy thing with the UAW folks being the rich folks. I kind of get their point. Why are auto workers any more special than anybody else. Is it because they have more to lose?
That said, the democrats and Obama are so beholden to the union it will get signed. They will get their money after they put on a show, and dish outsome tough talk. Personally, I think every congressman whotook the 150 billion of pork in return for their votefor the 700 billion bill should return it. The line will only get longer for the government money, and I'm sure that added 150 billion would come in handy.

Unions keeping a real real low profile right now! Why ususally they go on strike for more money when one of the Big 3 is having troubles. Remember the Steel Companies and look at the cities of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincy and all the rust belt. You say anything you want and go off on this thread, but it was the Union what drove em' out of business. No give, no comprehension of the economy or world economy. They did not see the writng on the wall. They said don't worry, we will take care of you to it's members. Lookee, lookee what's left?

UAW are leeches, and would rather see the industry go under than have to do anything themselves.
They have spent so many years kicking the industry in the n*^&, and now that is the only thing they know how to do.

It is a little strange that the big 3 are crying the blues and the ***anese are building good paying,non-union auto plants all over the place in the USA.
