This just makes me shake my head. I don't get it. They are saying it's a company policy for them to fly in their private jets so what's the big deal.
I will remember all these stories about the bail-outs and the waste involved when I write the checks to uncle sam this coming year. They may want to cash those buggers with some latex gloves on.[:'(]

Isnt it funny to read, "Its company policy to take a company jet"?
Who makes the company policy??? The C.E.O.s. I guess that is why they ran the buisness into the ground. Too busy padding their own pockets.

After Chrsyler CEO Nardelli said he work for $1 a year. The Ford CEO announced he was "fine where Im at" with his salary.....which is over 9 mil a year. The GM said his had been cut from 3.4 mil to a paltry 1.7 mil. These guys dont have a clue save for maybe the Chrysler guy...let these greedy s'bags sink...
I guess that is why they ran the buisness into the ground.
I think one of the problems is that they made less reliable cars (for whatever reason). I switched to Toyota in 2000 and never looked back. My corolla has 150,000 miles on it and I have yet to have a system breakdown. I don't know what they put in their brake systems but my brakes still have about 50% of their life left (according to midas).
Another problem is that they treat their employees too well. They should go into bankruptcy and screw over all the retirees on pension plans. When they come out of bankruptcy they should pay their factory workers 50 cents an hour more than McDonalds and make the benefit plan equal to McDonalds. When they start raking in the money from their vastly reduced costs they then can compensate their executives at the level that they have become accustomed to. As Carly Fiorina (McCain's chief advisor and fired HP CEO) has stated, Americans have to get over the perception that they are entitled to jobs that pay a decent salary. If people are desparate enough to work for $6/hr or less, thats all companies should have to pay them.
$1 a year is still too much for a guy that leadsa company to the edge of bankruptcy. Who the hell would want these guys to still run these companies? Like Burnie said S-can them and the horse they road in on.
On another note. Are they all in the same boat finacially right now? From what I have read, it seems like GM is the closest to going bankrupt. Are Ford and Chrysler in as bad a shape?

I don't think Chrysler is hurting as bad, I think Cerberus saw it coming...

I love Christmas lights. They remind me of the people who voted for Obama. They all hang together; half of them don't work, and the ones that do, aren't that bright.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do
not understand, no explanation is possible.
A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
I can not believe these companies still have corporate jets if they are as close to bankruptcy as they claim.
It is now clear why these companies are in so much trouble; they are run by idiots. Did these three CEOs really have no idea how it would look for each of them to take their own corporate jet from Detroit to Washington to beg for a handout from the taxpayers, nearly all of whom will never see the inside of a corporate jet. Until these guys start flying coach like the rest of us, I say do not give them one thin dime.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I would say that it is my opinion that this way of thinking is how Labor Unions came to be in the first place. There needs to be a balance where hardworking people can make a decent wage for that hardwork. Slackers need not apply.
I also beleive that the american public needs to get this hate for all big business out of their heads as quickly as possible. Big Companies = Big Jobs. They also are the ones that took the intitial risk to start these companies in hopes of the potential return.

Thanks for the reply. So are they just seeing this as, Hey, if you're givin' out free money we'll take some too?
I would think Chrysler would distance themselves from the failing companies just for PR purposes alone.
