Default An Auto CZAR?

Seriously guys, does Obama feel Washington knows best? Bend over boys, it's coming without KY. More Government control. What amazes me are the folks who freak out about the Patriot Act.

CHICAGO (Reuters) "“ President-elect Barack Obama is considering naming a point person to lead efforts to help the distressed auto industry return to health, an Obama aide said on Thursday.
General Motors Corp, Ford Motor Co and Chrysler LLC are seeking a federal bailout of up to $50 billion.
Automakers and Democratic congressional leaders have discussed a two-stage process in which government would provide $25 billion in direct loans to meet urgent needs. A second $25 billion would come later and could be applied to a United Auto Workers (UAW) retiree health care trust, freeing up more cash for operations.
An Obama transition official said the president-elect was looking into "identifying someone in charge of the auto issue who would have the authority to bring about reforms that would lead to an economically viable auto industry."
Obama said at a news conference last week that he considered federal help for the industry a high priority for his transition and called the auto companies "the backbone of American manufacturing and a critical part of our attempt to reduce our dependence on foreign oil."
He urged the Bush administration to accelerate disbursement of $25 billion in advanced technology loans approved by Congress in September.
Obama, a Democrat who had solid labor-union support during his presidential campaign, also pressed Republican President George W. Bush in a private meeting on Monday to back a federal bailout for the auto industry.

Just like i posted about a week ago. Why are we paying pension plans. Who is going to pay mine, yours, or anyone elses? Why choose this industry. Sounds like some union bed fellow. But that cant be right, Obama has never had questionable bed fellow. I heard the words right out of the anointed ones mouth, "Priority one is to increase the pension plans of the auto worker industry" with tax dollars.

Just curious... Obama is in favor of bailing out the auto industry. Bush appears to be opposed. If the industry "goes under" they'll file a bankruptcy. Anyone think that Obama likely favors a bailout in order to preserve the UAW and that Bush opposes the bailout in order to bust the union? A bankruptcy judge would likely throw out the union's collective bargaining agreements.

They are bailing them as we speak. I have heard no concessions from Union, and very little from the Hill as to what is happening. It takes $70. per/hr to build a car? Now these guys want the Government to step in and this is mostly about retirement and health care from what I read......Didn't Cool Breeze state he wanted to take 401 K over??? Here is the first shot at the bow of the ship my friends!! You asked for it you got it.........Oh that's Toyota

Just like I said several days ago. This has nothing to do with the profitability or the viability of GM to take care of its employees. The only thing important here is the UAW. I haven't heard of one single concession from the Union. The UAW gets to take care of the employees with GM's money. Now they think theyare so important, they want to take care of GM's employees with my money.
