Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default PETA Move against young hunters

On November 11, PETA[:@] sent a letter to the Governor of Arizona, Janet Napolitano, urging support of legislation that would ban hunting by anyone younger than 18.

We all need to take immediate action, contact Governor Napolitano, and let her know that "we hunters" support our children hunting.

http://azgovernor.gov/Contact.asp

We MUST stand united against this or this will end hunting.

Please take action NOW!

What a joke. Add another law to the books that I would violate at the drop of the hat!

It may be dumb, but I think this may be a stretch

Like FM said, that is a law I would violate as soon as it was passed.

It is not a stretch at all. PETA has been able to prevent NJ from having a bear season for years.

To echo Falcon's words, it isn't a stretch in the least. Getting our youth interested in hunting is the biggest obstacle we face right now. And it's enough of a problem when they ARE allowed to hunt but have so many other choices -- Xbox, MTV, etc. -- to occupy their time. More hunters are reaching retirement age right now than at any other point in history. As these guys eventually age to the point to where they're hanging up their guns, who's going to take their place? The hunter replacement ratio is already like .7 to 1 on the national average. The only reason -- the ONLY reason -- we haven't seen significant legislation against hunting is because we have strength in numbers. As we lose that strength in numbers, we lose political clout. Our lawmakers don't have to be concerned about us if we don't represent a large enough voting bloc to pose a threat to them.

And if you don't allow someone into the woods until they're 18, 9 out of 10 will never hunt. You can bank on that.

Why do you think PETA would go after measures like this? For the safety of the kids? Considering that these are the same people who say that if they saw a dog and a retarded kid drowning, they'd save the dog, I don't think that's the reason. They understand full well the consequences such laws would mean for hunters. Never under estimate Ingrid Newkirk and her cultish followers. They may be quacks, but they're crafty quacks.

Hunting will never be banned. The insurance lobby is too big.
