An imposter claiming to be a McCain advisor came to MSNBC with a made up Palin horror story. MSNBC failed to check the guys bona fides and aired a piece trashing Palin. Now MSNBC "retracts" their story after they trashed Palin. What a way to go. Palinshould sue the socks off everyone involved.
Quote:
NEW YORK "“ MSNBC was the victim of a hoax when it reported that an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the network said Wednesday.
David Shuster, an anchor for the cable news network, said on air Monday that Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, had come forth and identified himself as the source of a Fox News Channel story saying Palin had mistakenly believed Africa was a country instead of a continent.
Eisenstadt identifies himself on a blog as a senior fellow at the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy. Yet neither he nor the institute exist; each is part of a hoax dreamed up by a filmmaker named Eitan Gorlin and his partner, Dan Mirvish, the New York Times reported Wednesday.
MSNBC Is a cartoon channel. A disgrace to the term news. The only good thing is that they are so biased that nobody with any sign of a brain could take them seriously.
Hahaha... She could end up owning the place. Maybe give FoxNews a little fair and balanced competition and then we'd have two news stations that aren't grotesquely liberal-biased shill entities...
Actually, it's really tough for a "public figure" to win a slander/libel/defamation suit.
There used to be a saying in journalism: "If your mother says she loves you, verify it!"
Reporters got away from that common sense practice, and that leads to embarrassing moments like this. This is why using all these "anonymous sources" is such a bad idea. CNN has gotten particularly bad at it, but really all of them do it. They're constantly quoting a "source within the McCain campaign who wishes to remain anonymous." If MSNBC had done that, then they would've never had to run a retraction and would still be falsely reporting that Palin believes Africa is a nation.

RE: MSNBC Retracts False Palin Story
MSNBC will soon be a thing of the past. When the love afair with Obama subsides, as it will. And the media starts questioning his policies (no bashing here, just stating facts that occure with every election) MSMBC will be forgotten.

News stations have popped up everywhre, and the rush now is to get a story first, not bother to make sure its true, if you hesitate to verify, someone else might break it first. It's disgusting
