MaybeRussia willdo more than just talk, like they are doing now?
Maybe they'll ACTUALLY invade another country unjustly (maybe a democracy) to test Obama's resolve and show Russia's military might?

Dunno, Obama has spoken pretty strongly about what he will do if Pakistan doesnt shape up. The Russian's might be worried that he will go Bush on them too if they don't play nice.

President asside, I was addressing Russia's pushing of the west. Was it not just the other day they were in Venezuela doing military drills?
OK, so what would we do if Russia invaded a peaceful democracy unprovoked?
Wouldn't that be "pushing the west" on a far more serious scale than mere talk and debate of a what "might" happen over missle defence - which is all that is occuring now?

That is exactly what i'm talking about. They invaded Georgia, Military drills in Venezuela, refuse to dismantle two nuclear war heads that were supose to have been destroyed years ago, and talking tough about a missle defense system. They are doing more than talk. I guess my question is, why? Are they trying to flex muscle to regain world wide might? Are they truly trying to reestablish the cold war. Are they taking advantage of our watered down military? Or are they trying to push us into conflict?

All these things happened on Bush's watch, not Obama's, and Bush has only responded with empty talk - no real response from our CIC.
Obama could do no worse till we get our buts out of Iraq and actually have some troops to do with.
The fiasco of Iraq has made America less safe in many ways, not the least of which is the obvious that you point out. - What the hell do we do if something happens elsewhere in the world?
I don't think Bush ever thougt of that when over extending our forces in Iraq when we hadn't finished the job in Afghanistan - the law of unintended consequences proves out once again.
We're over the barrell militarily speaking until things change, and Russia knows it.
Our nation faces more threats than the drummed up fears of Iraqi terrorists - real threats with far more muscle.

So what? The worst they could do in response is fire a nuke, and they aren't that stupid or they would've done that a long time ago. I'm not worried about their other forces either, they don't have the capital to move a loaf of bread across the street. *YAWN*

The bold worrys me. That is, if they are doing more than flexing muscle. I fear it has to do a lot with keeping NATO out of their back yard, as well as establishing new stratigic sites in our back yard. I would not be surprised if they are becoming better bed fellows with Cuba.
