Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The 2nd Amendment isn't in jeopardy, eh?

If this has already been posted, I apologize. I don't tend to read threads once they're several pages long and since I don't visit often enough during the day, I usually wind up falling behind.

Anyway, I have seen several comments from folks here who tell us that we have nothing to fear, as gunowners, of an Obama presidency. I'm hoping for the best from an Obama presidency and I think (or at least hope) that my post-election posts here reflect that I'm not one of those going around crying and moaning and saying that the sky is falling because Obama won the White House.

That said, some of you have repeated many times that Obama doesn't want to go after gunowners. Just today I read that the gun control issue had been pushed off the national stage by the Democrats. Yet, on Obama's transition website his agenda (don't bother looking now, since it's been jerked) makes it clear that he plans to pursue gun control measures, including making the assault weapons ban permanent. Of course we knew this was coming, though a couple of you denied it as recently as this weekend.

By the way, since this was supposed to be a time of "coming together" and focusing on the economy, why is Obama's "transition" so concerned with divisive issues like gun control, abortion, etc.? I'm afraid that all who bought into this notion of unity drank themselves a big ol' glass of the proverbial kool-aid.

I hadn't heard anything about his "transitional website" but, someone posted a video the other day by some Brady Bunch operative, proclaiming how wonderful it was that Obama had won.

Anyone who believes that the 2nd Amendment is perfectly safe under Obama and his ilk is flat out stupid.

The 2nd Amendment is always in jeopardy. Bushpromised to sign an extension of the AWB if it got to his desk. The US senate voted to extend the AWB in 2004.Thanks to thehouseleadership the extension of the AWBdid not happen: Speaker Hastert refused to schedule a house vote.

Gaging the political climate at the present time, i judge the 2nd Amendment to be in extreme jeopardy.

You are exactly right. I'd be willing to bet that some of the first to whine will be some of those who voted for him too.

He can't. But he can ignore it. And he can pick judges for the Supreme Court who will "reinterpret" it to suit his needs.

I'd be very worried. I would encourage people to join the NRA then. I did.

Well, he did tell the folks in Ohio that he was not ever going to take their guns away. Obama wouldn't tell us a lie would he??? I mean, he has been so forthcoming about all of his past associations, I can't believe he would do something like this. If Obama has his way, the only thing we will be able to shoot deer with is a camera.
