Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default What is affordable Healthcare?

I'm throwing this out there for input. One of Obama's promises was to bring affordable healthcare to everyone. So what is affordable? That's the big question because the very people who are uninsured choose to be that way because they don't feel spending money on healthcare is worth it. So what amount is the minimum that you would go to offer the uninsured healthcare? Remember, someone still has to pay the rest of the cost. A family of four can get BCBS for less than $800/mo. If they choose not to buy healthcare, would you deny them service or fine them or tax them into the system?

You can live a healthy lifestyle and still ring up huge medical bills, I do understand where your coming from but things like cancer dn't care how healthy your life style is.

The "affordable" healthcare insurance I get through my employer runs me $240 per month, that's about all the "affordable" I can take without making cuts.

so Germ....would you see health club membership subsidized as a disease preventative ?
How about tax credits for those who do not drink, take drugs, smoke, overeat, engage in unnecessary medical procedures or drive ?

How far do we take 'disease pre-emption' (for lack of a better term).

I'm gonna take a leap and say that lots of folks who voted for Obama were thinking "free" when he said affordable. If he does get some sort of healthcare package implemented, I think there are gonna be some unhappy campers if they have to pay any more than a token amount for it.
