Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default AWB!!!No grandfather clause????

Just got to thinking about the last AWB and and searching the net about it and got to thinking about what if our new president and congress passes a new AWB with out a grandfather clause?I can not imagine me having to take my firearms that I bought with my own hard earned money and handing them over the law enforcement officials. The thought of this just blows my mind, but yet scares the hell out of me,with Obama being elected.A total confiscation of all so called Assualt rifles.I just don't think I could give them up.How about you guys, how do you feel about this,"nograndfather clause".I know there is no AWB now,but I feel that in due time there will be.

I was thinking about this earlier today. I certainly don't think it's outside the realm of possibility. Certainly we're going to have another AWB I think. It's just a matter of when the House leadership wants to start pushing it. But, FWIW, there's been no mention (that I'm aware of) of a non-grandfather clause version of the AWB, and the Carolyn McCarthy version currently before the House (I assume it's still filed) doesn't include any such clause.

Let's not remember that the gun control measures of '93-'94 were a very real part of the reason for the Democrats' mid-term setbacks in '94. I'm not sure they'll want to tackle this right off the bat, unless Pelosi & Co. feel emboldened by their numbers.

Good post.

Yeah, you know that's on their minds. I can almost guarantee the left will try to find a way to implement some kind of AWB again and try to present it in such a way as to not feel the backlash as they did in 94. Will they get away with it and will there be a grandfather clause if they do? Don't know, time will tell.....scary ain't it?

Methinks that the the AWB will have to wait awhile. If they do it right, the Democrats will have bigger fish to fry than an AWB. First they have to passa lot of legislation fixing the banking system and the mortgage industry.

The first AWB was a squeaker. It passed the house by one vote because the retiring house minority leader, Michels(R), voted for it. Vote was 216-215. 76 Democrats voted against the 1994 AWB and 38 Republicans voted for it. There are more pro-gun Democrats in the house now than there were in 1994.

The extension of the AWB passed the senate in 1994 when 10 Republicans voted for it. BTW: Democrat senator Harry Reid voted against the original AWB and the extension.

Guns wont be taken away. You guys should just chill out. The 2nd amendment says right to bear arms. Arms could be anything tank, missle, bombs AK-47 etc. Now do we the people need those type of weapons. NO. Do I think need some type of regulation on guns. Yes. How far do you go? Should rifles that are used to hunt with, shotguns, hand guns, etc be banned. NOPE not one bit. The averge citzen how can he use a M16. Cant hunt with it. Its only designed for military use.

The average citizen is prohibited from owning an M16 by federal law.

WOW!!!

falcon slams the door on the "feeling sorry for myself so I want to feel threatened and ill-used" thread with his cold hard facts.

Pro-gun Harry Reid - opposing the AWB TWICE - bet the NRA gave him an F anyway cause he's a Dem

Just goes to show how erroneous it is to assume a dem will be anti-gun and support the AWB, like W did - he never recanted his support for that anti-gun law, yet was champioined by the NRA and dem haters simply because he toted a (R).
