Anyone who thinks this election will help race relations in this country are gonna be way off Im afraid. Its already starting...anyone who criticizes Mr Obama over anything or says anything about him will be accused of being racist. These are gonna be 4-8 years of the most divisive times the country has ever seen. I can see a possible race war developing once again if a few small things happen. I can only hope Im wrong..but I highly doubt it.

As President-elect he will be working from a position of strength that possibly no president has ever had before. He will have the Senate...the House and millions of media members and press afraid to question for fear of being labelled.

Am I completely off base here or does anyone agree with me?

He can either be the greatest unifier ever or the most divisive ever....I dont think theres much room for middle ground the way things work in this day and age.

Don't know if there will be a race war or not but if there is...there's enough blame to go around. I for one don't plan to be apart of the cause of the potential division. God help us...

I think that Obama will either turn out to be a very good President or a very bad one. Would be nice if folks would wait and see how he starts to turn out instead of melting down.

Oh yeah...Ive been paying attention. Were you napping when they suggestedthe "that one" comment by McCain in one of the debates was racial? You dont pay real close attention to things do you?

I do pay attention to things. I didn't think it was racist. Who is this "they" you are talking about? Listen, Iget that you are afraid. People fear what they don't understand. The worst symptom of fear is hate. Don't give in to it.

Good points and some not so good.

It is frightfully easy to bill one's self as a unifier and turn out to be a divider.

Take Bush for instance, he took 9-11 which should have unified America and the world against Islamo-facscism and instead he turned it into the greatest division of America in recent history, and all but destroyed the economy at the same time.

Obama might do something equally bad, we'll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, it will take at least 8 years to clean up the mess that Bush took 8 years to make.

A hard road ahead for any prez, Obama or McCain.

I think you are pretty much right on the money. Everyone has been walking on egg shells trying not to be racist. Many of osama's puppets are waiting to scream racist at the first sign of criticism.

He could be a good president if he makes a 100 degree turn in his stance on gun control and playing robin hood. Never has there been such a pure socialist elected in this country and that is not a racist remark I can call a socialist a socialist. Further, he didn't even try to hide his socialist agenda and the sheeple ran bleating after him. This is one Red state that didn't buy it. Makes me proud.

Good points here from everybody. Biker I dont hate at all....I am fearful of what could happen though. Color means nothing to me.....its his policies that bring out my fear.By "they" I mean the media...I should have clarified. I watch too much news and read too much I guess.

I'd agree Fodder. It is gonna be a tough road for anyone. I agree with the 9-11 part as well. It was used as a nice opportunity to cram the Patriot Act down our throats among other things. There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides though.
