Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Think! Do we REALLY want experienced politicians?

Someone made a comment in another thread as to how Palin after this campaign might be set up to run for Senator which would give her "Experience." This got me to thinking. If we want to reform our government, do we want politicians who are "experienced?" How does a politician get experience? By serving in office for years and years right? Is Kennedy experienced? Yup!Is Biden experienced? Yup!Is McCain experienced? Yup! Are we impressed.Well it doesn't seem as though we're all that impressed. It looks to me as though all this "experience" is good for them but doesn't help us out much.

So I'm suggesting that, if we truly want reform, we should look at a lack of "experience" as a positive thing in a candidate and not a negative. Maybe we need people in office who have lived in the real world and expect to get back to the real world, folks who don't view politics as a career. Our former governor, John Engler, was a good man and he wasn't a bad governor. But the mangot himself elected tothe legislature right out of college, went to law school while in the legislature and thenran forgovernor and was elected. All this and never holding down an honest job. Experienced? You betcha! But at what? At being a politician.

So I think we need to rethink the way we evaluate candidates for office. A lack of "experience" should be considered a virtue, not a detriment. Now that doesn't mean we should elect Obama just because he is the least experienced candidate. That's not the only category to be evaluated. You also want someone who is not totally wrong on every possible issue.

Interesting, and maybe, right on the money. Nice thought.

I think you are reading my mind.

I don't want an expeirenced politician. I want someone that is honest, hasn't been corrupted by the "system", someone who stands up for the people and what they believe in. Someone that knows what this country was founded on and is willing to get it back to the "way it was" so to speak.

It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."
