Here in America, we love our violence, but the majority seem to find sex offensive. It's the complete opposite in Europe. They find violence much more offensive than sex.
Why the heck do you think the Europeans persecuted the Puritans enough to run them off and make them come over here? Bunch of danged party poopers. Of course, the Puritans said the Europeans didn't know how to suffer properly.

I think I agree with the Europeans on this one.
Its not that Americans finds sex offensive, its the exploitation, and exhibitions of sex that are offensive. Sex is very biblical. Anyone that has read Songs in the old Testament can see this.
I totally disagree about violence. They suck up anything thats on the movies with violence. You got to understand most Europeans are very controlled andsurveyedcompared to the US

Bingo!!! Have some ancestors who were Puritans. The Puritans ran England for awhile,murdering folks,burning down Catholic churches and forcing their belief on one and all. When the monarchy was restored,Cromwell wasdug up and his head put on a stake. Those Puritans who were not jailed or killed went to Holland. Because the Puritans could not mind their own business in Holland they were forced out of that country.Puritans came to the new world where they pressed folks to death with rocks and burned "witches."
Are we talking about the same America here? Take a look at any given show on TV tonite and there is plenty of sex. Just because you dont necessarily wantfull nudity and intercourse on primetime TV doesnt make you a prude.

There is also plenty violence, but nobody ever seems to complain about it.
It's just my observation that violence in movies/TV is more socially acceptable than sex, and I just don't understand it. Parents will allow there kids to watch violent movies, but restrict movies that have sex scenes in them.

I restrict my children from both. I don't even let them watch Shrek because of the sexual undercurrents in it. It irritates me that people think just because it is a cartoon kids can watch it. Just the other day some of the boys in the neighborhood came over to play with my kids and they were talking about all the horror movies they have watched. My kids haven't even watched the movie monster house. There are much better things for my kids to be doing than watching that garbage. No violent video games either. Dirt bike racing and things of that nature.
Why am I a prude. Because there is more to life than violence and sex. I am not into violence at all and have a hard time watching it. And why watch sex when I can enjoy it with my husband. I refuse to buy into that my body has to be a certain shape, my hair a certain way, most of the time I don't wear make-up, and when I do it takes under 5 min. I refuse to waste 2 hrs on getting ready when my time would be better spent with my family.
