Default pre 9/11 gas prices.

On oct first i filled my truck up after it went from 4.99 to 3.79 took 34 gallons cost around 125 bucks or so. Well today gas is down to 2.34 here. Right around the time i need to fill up. So i figure and 50 dollar a tank differnts got to say feels good to be that low.

Do you guys think were headed for pre 9/11 gas prices around 2 bucks a gallon or so. Or will the cartels also known as oil companys head it back up

First of all, the oil companies are not a cartel, OPEC is. the companies actually make MORE money when oil prices drop, because they dont have to pay so much for crude, they can increase their margins slightly.

Second, OPEC cant do to much to impact demand, which is plummeting. Even the cut they made last week wont effect prices, because demand fell more than OPEC cut. Gas is 2.20 in my area, and i think we'll soon see 1.85...

Oil will probably fall to 50-55/barrel and hold for a while...

Mr Cheney and Mr Bush and their Saudi connections are very happy with the oil prices over the past 8 years.

I am sure they will again be adjusted shaprly upward after the election.

Too many years of watching gas prices and election days to not see the trend.

OPEC allready stated they want to keep the cost of oil at $100 per barrel. They called a emergency meeting one day last week. We're right around $2.50 a gallon now. Last week in Indiana I seen it for $2.49 so I imagine it's cheaper over there now. We better enjoy it while we can. I bet it goes sky high again around the holidays.

Can you tell me EXACTLY what they have done to cause the lowering of gas prices during this election???

You can consistently find gas in the $2.20 range here in western Ohio. I've even heard some reports of it being down around $2.00, which would have it in the ballpark with pre-9-11 prices when accounting for inflation. Gonna be interesting to see how much blame falls on President Obama if prices are back well over $3.00 a gallon by the Spring.

your right i meant opec. We need to drop them in a hole some where. If we had companys make a opec membership here in say food sales we would call it price fixing

i agree with you guys prices are down due to damand but with 2.00 a gallon everyone will be driving around gasing the quads and boats up and traveling. Come spring if not by jan they will be back to 3.50 a gallon. I see 3.00 agallon from mid to late nov till spring

Dunno about that. I could see demand rising somewhat for driving during the holiday season, but then dropping again during January, February and march when folks aren't doing much driving. At this rate, gas will be below $2.00 in a couple weeks, so it will have to come back up pretty good over the holidays to be back to where it is now.

Gas is $2.09 here already. I drive a Durango, so every little price drop helps.
