Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default A test to vote.

I think we need a test so people can vote. Something like a civics test. Who is running what they stand for. How they have voted. who is in power in both the white house and Congress so on.

I have talked with alot of people most who plan to vote for obama and know nothing.
My moms mom said how she hopes obama wins and after giving her a few things the dems have done since taking Congress. She said ya but all the stuff is happening because the rep. control Congress. She thinks the rep. are in control. And she can vote. Most people do not even know what the candidates stand for.
Come on we need a IQ test to vote.

Default RE: A test to vote.

I can't vote, but whatever:

The White House is controlled by the Republicans, George W. Bush, the former Gov. of Texas is the President, and Dick Cheney, who used to work for the Haliburton Corporation (I don't know what else he did) is the Vice President.
Bush is pro-Life, he has appointed two Supreme Court Justices, and is seving his second term, he leaves office in 2009.

The House is controlled by Democrats, regrettably I don't remember the exact number, however I believe in this election they are attempting to acheive a 290-seat majority which they currently don't have. The Democrats have been in control since 2007.
Nancy Pelosi of California (San Fransisco) is the majority leader. John Boehner of Ohio is the minority leader.

The Senate, has a Democrat majority, of 51-49, and they are trying to extend that majority to 60 seats in the Senate, however that is unlikely. They too have been in control of the Senate since 2007. Harry Reid is the Senate Majority leader, and I don't know who the Senate minority leader for the Republicans is.

Barack Obama is running for the Democrats this year, he's a Senator since 2005, pro-abortion, anti-gun(since he's from Illinois), campaigns on the basis of improving the economy by raising taxes on the wealthy, and cutting taxes for the poor, and has said he is wanting to change the way America conducts its foreign diplomacy, including nuclear proliferation. He also wants to reform the healthcare system in America with more government regulation and to offer people a government program of healthcare. To date doesn't seem to have an opinion on border control. He voted in favor of the bailout bill. He has stated he wants to pull out of Iraq immediately

John McCain is a Senator from Arizona, has been in government since 1983 or 1984 approximately. Has been in military (not getting into the tear-jerker narrative right now), was a part of restoring diplomatic relations with Vietnam during the 80's and the 90's, is pro-Life, is in favor of sealing the border, however he wants to give a guest-worker program for illegal aliens in America, since he finds that deporting them is impractical and impossible. He advocated tax-cuts, like most Republicans, voted in favor of both bailout bills, even though Republicans in the House were against it, as were some of his colleagues in the Senate.
He has laid out ambitions to make America energy-independent within 20 years, by various means and with research. He is in favor of finishing the War in Iraq, and the War in Afghanistan, and is not willing to sit down with leaders of countries considered "enemies."

This is tiring and pointless, everybody knows all this stuff.

Oh, goodie. A revival of Jim Crow. Only instead of disenfranchising blacks and minorities, we'll disenfranchise anyone we don't think is smart enough to see things the way we do. Or is that too smart to see things the way we do? No matter. We'll disenfranchise anyone who disagrees with us.

I don't think a test is appropriate but I do feel a tax return should be.If you pay taxes then you should have a say or a vote,if you are a receiver of tax dollars then you should not.[]

I am not saying that to pass you must agree with me or anyone. just that you should know what is going on.

That was done. Fought, and found unconstitutional .

I guess that could be the first question on the test.

i do not see how it is unconstitutional. i see nothing in the 15 amendment that says they can not keep you from voting because you stupid or know nothing about that candidates
If they had a list of questions that each person answered say you views on gun rights abotion, defense so on. It would allow people to know what there canidates think and want

FIFTEENTH AMENDMENT
S
ECTION 1. The right of citizens of the United States to
vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by
any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
S
ECTION 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this
article by appropriate legislation.
ABOLITION OF SUFFRAGE QUALIFICATIONS ON BASIS
OF RACE

I was refering to the Civil Rights act that got rid of literacy tests As well as:
http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/42/1971.html

I guess unconstitutional was used loosely on my part.

With that said The U.S. Supreme Court in Davis v. Schnell, affirmed a lower court ruling that had held that the Alabama"™s literacy test was unconstitutional.
