Over the weekend, there was a gun show here in Richmond, VA. I went to it real early on Saturday morning. I couldn't believe what I saw...
- The gun show opened at 9:00am. I got there at 10:00am and it was already packed to capacity!
- There were countless ammo dealers with massive supplies of .223 ammo (some in big boxes on pallets on the floor!). They also had tons of 9mm, .45ACP ammo, along with .308, .270, .30-06 rifle ammo.
- People were buying up the .223 ammo in bulk quantity (big boxes of 1000 rounds) to stockpile it away.
- People were buying AR-15's, .357 revolvers, 9mm's, etc...
I bought a bag of .308 ammo (50 rounds - 168gr BTHP reloads) for a decent price, and a bag of 9mm ammo (50 rounds - 124gr Gold Dot +P reloads).
I had a strange feeling while I was at the gun show that people are starting to really get worried about an "Obamanation" presidency - and how he and Biden will affect the 2nd Amendment. [&:]
The first AWB passed 216-215. 76 Democrats in the house voted against it: 38 Republicans supported it.
IMO: The Democrats are a little wiser since they lost50 seats and control of the house because of theAWB and Brady in 1994. There are more pro-gun Democrats in the house than in 1994.
Then again, the only pro-gun Democrat I ever heard of was that old guy from Georgia named Zell Miller. Too bad he retired. He told it like it was and didn't give a $*@& what people thought!
The legislation was supported by 177 Democrats, 38 Republicans and Rep. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., and opposed by 137 Republicans and 77 Democrats. One unexpected supporter was retiring Minority Leader Robert H. Michel, R-Ill., a World War II infantryman who previously voted against another proposed ban on some assault weapons.
It isn't an oxymoron at all. There are several pro-gun Democrats in the House, including 2 of my favorites: Lincoln Davis of Tennessee and Heath Shuler of North Carolina.
