Default Republicans Fear Bloodbath in Congress

Democrats may pick up as many as 20 house seats and 4-6 senate seats. It may be a long dry spell for congressional Republicans. Sadly, it did not have to be this way: Republicans in congress did it to themselves.

Its never a good thing when you have both houses and presidency controlled by the same party. It always turns into this.

But with that said, I am not sure how republicans in congress did it to themselves per se.

It'll be an open war in 2010, that's for sure, then they'll both have chances.

I agree! The Republicans brought it on themselves. The rising cost of fuel has brought on this economic crisis. The Republicans had years to take the necessary steps to avoid this, that is allowing drilling, and did nothing. OPEC has just announced that if the price of petroleum does not increase, they will have to cut production, which, of course, will drive the price back up.

Of course we need to develop alternative energy sources. But there is no need to be enslaved by OPEC while we do it.

Republicans WANTED drilling. Republicans were for better oversight of Fannie and Freddie. Problem is, the sheeple buy the media BS on everything wrong being Bush's fault, and heap the poop pile on McCain/Palin. Careful what you wish for, US sheeple Inc., you'll have your 8% approval rating congress on steroids!

Really. 17 Republican senators voted with virtually all the Democrats to derail a bill that would havereined in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

You're right of course. We tend to have a media driven government. But we don't have a democracy. We are supposed to have a representative Republic. Our elected representatives are supposed to make themselves aware of the issues and govern accordingly. The House is supposed to represent more closely the wishes of the unwashed masses and the Senate is supposed to rein in the possible extravagances.

The crisis is not because of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The crisis is due to the "energy crisis." Most of those people could afford the houses they bought when they bought them. But the boost in the cost of living and the loss of jobs due to higher costs has brought on the home loan crisis.

It's possible to get along with a minimum wage job, establish a budget and get by. You won't live the American dream but you can get by. Lose that job and you are in trouble. That's happening here more than anywhere else.

What's the root cause of our crisis? This ignorant concept that the media driven opinions of the "sheeple" should control policy. We are going to end up with exactly what the elites supporting Obama and his ilk desire, Socialism. They know that as the crisis deepens and becomes unmanageable, they will get what they want, the POWER to control our lives.

Sorry, but thats not even close. Another couple hundered bucks a month in fuel didn't cause all these people to start defaulting on their loans. You know what an ARM loan is right? You know that most of those houses people bought were overpriced to begin with? You know a lot of those people shouldn't even have qualified for a car loan, yet they were given home loans for $200+ thousand bucks?

True, but for us gun owners it may be too late by then.
