Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Thank you, AP, for your objectivity

I saw several different AP stories over the weekend, written by different writers, about the anger at the McCain rallies and how McCain and Palin are doing nothing to shut these people up. At least one story even went so far as to say that McCain is actually encouraging disparaging remarks that are made about Obama -- opinion in a news story. That used to be a line that even the AP wouldn't cross, but it's become the norm during this campaign. Sometimes they slap an "analysis" tag on it but write it more like an op-ed piece, but more often they simply try to push it across as hard news, which is exactly what they're doing with these stories about McCain stoking the fire of anger in his supporters.

To hear the mainstream media tell it, you'd think the bitter old white men of the Republican Party (because that's all who would support McCain, right?) are becoming incensed because Obama is winning the race. There's obviously a lot of frustration -- though the news media is obviously oblivious to the cause, which is the news media -- but the hatred is hardly unique to the McCain campaign.

I've said many times that I think McCain has run a dirty campaign (lest anyone think I'm letting Obama off the hook, his has been pretty bad, too) but McCain has no control over this stuff. And where's the news coverage on the other side's hatred and bitterness? You see pictures like this one http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Xn_O-mM2sF...0-h/SPCunt.JPG . . . which is basically the same thing as if some people showed up wearing shirts that said "Obama is a n-word," or any other racist comment. You can bet that such an occurrence would be all over the news, but the news is silent about this. Crap like this http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/12...y-insane-rage/ that Michelle Malkin has posted on her blog. Stuff like the protesters vandalizing vehicles at the Republican convention (which, granted, did get a little coverage).

Why is the news media portraying this as if the anger and hatred is only on the right?

It's disgusting.

Mainly because McCain got involved. Some really funny stuff too since he says Obama's decent and there's nothing to be afraid of, but his short ads tell ya different. And then McCain opened his mouth again saying, "I'll whip his you-know-what"
