He's 72 freakin' years old! Not only that, but this campaign is being awfully hard on him. He's practically aging right before our eyes. I'm sure he's giving it all he's got and he's as fired up as he can be, but there's just not much left in the tank.
but I'm beginning to think instead of "If Obama wins," we should start talking about how to deal with "When Obama wins."
John McCain seems stuck in second gear and even with Palin on board with the need to start drilling immediately, John can't seem to get the picture. Our economy is foundering because of the sudden increase in the cost of fuel. Both businesses and individuals are faced with increased costs that are destroying anticipated budgets.
Somebody needs to give John a firm kick in the a$$ and tell him it's time to do a big flip-flop on drilling. The freaking anti-drilling liberals ain't gonna vote for him anyway.
Just curious... Are you suggesting that you don't think McCain is in the "drill, baby, drill" crowd? His platform clearly calls for starting offshore drilling immediately. He's not on board with ANWR yet. But, he'll get there. And... the price of oil is down 40% since Mid-July.

John needs to start emphasizing the need to start drilling anywhere and everywhere, not just offshore. This economic crisis gives him the chance to seize the advantage. He could grab the ball and run, but instead he's twiddling around, trying to avoid offending the weenies who aren't going to vote for him anyway.
Of course he doesn't care about my vote anyway. Which makes me wonder why I'm interested in his campaign or even posting on this forum.
McCain seems vaguely detached from any of the concerns of the average American.
McCain has been detached from conservatism for years. That is why you have all those bills likeKennedy-MCcain, McCain-Lieberman and McCain-Feingold. i would recommend thatMrs. McCain not measure the white housefor drapes prematurely.
I wouldn't consider McCain dead in the water just yet. He IS looking quite worn out of late, but he has gained in a number of polls this week nonetheless. I think most americans aren't exactly happy with either candidate, but I also think many americans aren't exactly ready to see a black guy named Barak Obama become president. We shall see what happens in a few weeks but I wouldn't put any bets on Obama as a sure thing on election day.
I'm still not sure I understand where this attitude of defeatism is coming from. This race is NOT over, despite what the pundits and even some of the media would have us believe. It has been neck-and-neck all year long, until the last 2 weeks, which I tend to believe was an Obama bounce from the Wall Street scandal. We're now seeing the polls start to tighten up again. All the daily tracking polls, with the exception of Gallup, show McCain closing. The state-by-state polls aren't showing the same thing YET, but they tend to run behind the national polls by several days.
As for McCain being tired or whatever, folks tend to second-guess his strategy when he's down. If he was up 5 points, we'd be talking about how he was acting quietly confident. McCain is doing fine. He isn't running the campaign I would prefer him to run, but he hasn't done that from the very beginning. I'm not a McCain fan and never have been. But he's doing fine. We're too superficial and we get too caught up on appearances. Appearances don't matter all that much. If they did, GWB wouldn't have been elected twice.

As an Obama supporter I don't think you should stop trying. The more we hear about McCain and the more he changes direction the more votes that shift to Obama.
Your only preparation will be a WH that isn't trying to make Haliburton and Saudi Arabia Richer.
